Suas folhas possuem filotaxia espiralada, pecíolo com bainha fechada frequentemente com nervuras ou faixas contrastantes de em tom de verde escuro a verde claro metálica. A inflorescência é mais longa em relação ao rizoma e suas flores são branco com nervura-central castanha.
