How do you bind something made of metal?

They're still compressable. A lot of my body is functionally similar to a human at first pass. you poke my arm it feels like poking a strangely cool and weirdly silky human arm for example.

Push hard enough and you start to feel a transition into... whatever support structures I've got in my arm. I seem to have a transition from flesh like to metal rod like going on.

And I'm shear hardening you can't do jack shit to me by smashing an ax blade into me for example

Bit of an experimental piece of Astra, I'm testing some new things out with my art style. She is very much a "call an ambulance, call an ambulance! BUT NOT FOR ME." type of person lmao. She can throw a mean left hook and isn't afraid to either. If you throw the first punch, you better knock her out for your own safety lol. Her pose is based on that one Pinterest pose image I've seen floating around that people have drawn their OCs in and it made me think of her.

Who is she punching? Who punched her first? I have a handful of options in mind, but I will let you decide lol.

Theoros and her colleagues run a miniature observatory in the lands of Focal Point, northeast of the Arcanist’s Observatory, and they weren’t unaffected by the sudden quakes and growth of the Crystalpines either.

The only current researcher that stayed in the planetarium when the quakes started to hit was Theoros herself along with a small thieving child named Aser. Unlucky for them, the building was near full of loose and breakable objects and things. Theoros could only save two items, Hope’s radio and Aser themselves. Everything else was up to how well it would react to being shaken.

Hope, Faith, Charity, and Idein were not there. But they felt it. They heard Theoros’ call to come back. From their different stations around Sornieth, they all turned at once, packed, and stood to come back.

My main Jurassic World & Camp Cretaceous/Chaos Theory OC, Astra Ayad. She's a former ranger, now head paleobiological researcher and liaison for InGen. Her job is mainly researching the dinosaurs on the island and their ecology to consult the lab team on changes that need to be done to provide a better quality of life for the animals and is considered a credible animal welfare spokesperson for Jurassic World. She's an Egyptian american immigrant who studied under Dr. Alan Grant at the University of Denver. She had originally studied software engineering for which she was particularly proficient, but decided to switch to paleontology as it had always been her passion and decided she didn't care about disappointing her parents anymore with what they considered a "useless degree" and did it anyway. She has a Master's and PhD in Paleontology with specialization in Paleobiology and Paleoecology and she has never known a day of peace in her poor life since 2009. She is very tragic, but don't worry, she finds herself and gets to heal in the end, I promise. I think if she didn't, she'd become sentient and kill me in cold blood and I would completely understand that choice and take it with grace, I'm so sorry girl. 💀 She does not have heterochromia as is often mistaken, she is partially blind from an accident and has damage to her iris. She usually wears a prosthetic contact lens that corrects her vision and matches her eye color and wears long pants to cover her leg per request of Jurassic World management because they believe it's "bad publicity" given her injuries happened on property. Later on she gets fed up about having to hide her disabilities for the comfort of management and starts wearing shorts and a clear contact lens instead to stick it to the man. A little fun fact, we actually share a shoulder tattoo, but hers is on the opposite arm! It's the juvenile Gorgosaurus fossil from Royal Tyrell Museum for those curious. 💙 Note, she is NOT a self insert at all, she's her own character, I just project on her a lot so we share a few traits, as most people tend to do with their main OCs tbh lol. Feel free to ask me questions about her, I could yap for days!

How much did your regular senses change?

Not much. My visual spectrum seems mostly unchanged, maybe sliiiiiiiightly expanded as some stuff looks a tad different on occasion, but that could be psychosomatic.

Hearing seems basically unimpacted.

Same with smell.

Uh... taste I lost a capsaicin sensitivity it turns out I had.

Touch is... basically the same? I don't know, it's a tad different when I really slap something, but it might also just be the shear hardening I got going on.

So not much. Though my senses now can just completely drop out of I get too much stimulii. Like. In especially "noisy" places psychically I might randomly go blind for a bit. Or deaf. You get the idea.

Morning run with Yaz wip sketch! Excuse the horrendous cropping, my iPad did something goofy I'll need to fix later on when I actually finish this doodle at a later date. It's hard to see on her ref, but Astra's hair is textured and she wears it in a low ponytail most of the time. She cuts it short/medium length later on in the future. Astra used to do relay races and pole vaulting in high school and when Yaz found out she insisted she run with her in the mornings. She's a bit slower than she used to be since she lost her leg and isn't quite used to not feeling both her feet on the ground when she runs, but she still manages to at least kind of keep up with Yaz, more than the others at least and is the only one willing to get up at dawn to run with her. 🤣

Astra sketch for an animatic I'm working on for a long dead trend audio because I'm slow drawing things for animations/animatics, followed by a yap sesh about her lmao. For context, Astra was also left on the island after the evacuation when she went back for the kids after meeting up with Dave and Roxie on the dock and finding out they weren't able to find them and she effectively fought her way back on the island and said she'd do whatever she could to get them off the island safe, but she didn't find them and didn't make it back in time and figured that they either made it off without her knowing or crossing paths with her or were dead. She had lost her brother in the Indominus incident just hours earlier when Delta broke into the lab where Astra told him to hide in her office, but he left because he got scared after he heard the sounds of Delta's altercation with Hoskins and panicked and was also ambushed by Delta. Astra found him while he was still alive having ran back to the lab when the trial with the raptors failed and he passed in her arms and it broke something in her. His death triggered a series of intense impulsivity within her where she was absolutely desperate to make sure the N6 made it off without suffering the same way Amir did when she eventually found them later on.

She had interacted with the camp kids a few times from planned events from Camp that coincided with her job where she taught them about animal behavior and why certain choices for the paddocks were made for some little education events that she offered to do for the Camp Cretaceous program and she knew Kenji anyway personally from working on the island for a few years by that point and he was friends with her younger brother Amir who was the same age as him and would stay with her on the island for the summer and winter breaks he had off from school on the mainland. She never quite got along with Daniel Kon however. They were always friendly to each other and Daniel seemed happy that Kenji made a friend, albeit it was clear to her Daniel didn't think Astra or Amir were quite in the right tax bracket to be talking to him, but given she was on the executive board for InGen as their biological liaison and he was a top investor, they frequently crossed paths. Daniel was always naturally cold with most people anyway, so Astra never really took it personally and when they actually started talking more at work Daniel realized she was actually quite talented in the kind of work she did with her extensive paleontology knowledge and the kind of impressive research tools she'd created for herself with her background in software engineering. Daniel was suddenly much more friendly with her and knew just what to say to make her trust him and let her guard down and allow him into her life as a close friend and colleague. Astra didn't know however that Daniel's sudden warm friendliness with her was him trying to get free information out of her for his secret project he was working on for Mantah Corp before taking over the company fully.

She is a very lonely person having lost her parents in a tragic accident after a petty argument she had with them that she has chronic guilt for and moving thousands of miles away from home for a new start in Costa Rica for her and her brother and is unfortunately easily coerced into talking about her interests with just about anybody without always realizing it's being used for an ulterior motive, she's very desperate for connection and often feels like her only worth to others is being helpful and knowledgeable. She had also found herself coerced into working on the Indominus project as a research consultant and as much as she was uncomfortable with the concept of a hybrid, she knew they would make it with or without her and she wanted desperately to ensure some kind of safety for it and the people and animals around it if that's what they insisted on. Unfortunately, due to it being a hybrid, a lot of her research analysis was unintentionally wrong or inconsistent because she couldn't guess a true pattern with the erratic behavior the Indominus displayed or the issues with feeding and the accelerated growth rate or what could be done to deal with these issues. She held a lot of guilt for getting herself involved in the project, especially when she realized that the kids got left behind when she finally ran into them when Mitch and Tiff were on the island and saw the lights of Main Street being messed with in the distance where she was hiding out. She actually ran into Ben first who was setting up for the dino stampede and was initially violently suspicious of her and took a swing at her with his spear but she very quickly and frantically explained why she was there and that she wanted to help. Ben agrees and she helps him and Bumpy with the stampede at the Watering Hole. The kids are extremely happy to find an adult they can actually trust, especially Kenji who was happy it was actually someone he was close to and knew for sure was legit.

When asked about her brother, she lied and said she assumed he was evacuated from the lab and wasn't sure of his whereabouts. She was both afraid of recounting his horrifying death to the kids, especially Kenji who was a close friend of his and cause them to lose hope of getting out alive and also really wasn't able to really talk about it with anybody yet as it traumatized her severely. She was very cagey about the subject and only Yaz and Brooklynn seemed to sense she wasn't being honest, but didn't press. Astra is initially very in her head with her intense guilt and trauma from everything that's happened and does spend a lot of time on her own for awhile after meeting them, kind of like how Ben did and had a sort of outdoor cat attachment style where she'd check in with them and stuff a few times per day but they eventually coerce her to stay with them permanently instead and she does. She found that being around them instead of isolating herself on her own and seeing parts of her brother in all of them starts to heal her in some way and she finds the will to keep going and will do whatever it takes to make sure they all get out alive no matter what it takes. She lost one sibling, but gained 6 and she knew Amir would want her to keep going and find something to live and fight for again.

🛏️-How do you prefer to sleep?

With Lils hugging me if she's available (seriously nice as fuck, and she always hugs SOMETHING when she sleeps, pillow, Snowy, etc).

But otherwise, like... fuck, just in my regular bed in underwear I guess? I unfortunately have to wear a bra to bed as well for various reasons, so... it's tops and bottoms there. Well, not HAVE to, but it's highly advised.
