When you used to have a mouthful of hefty teeth, it sure can feel weird to just have normal ones. My mouth is always slightly open even though I have small teeth.

ahh okay sorry about that then, i couldve sworn phantom limbs were only just for PLS. makes sense about astral limbs though since youd only feel them in the astral since different plane and all. though if you could send a source (im curious tbh) that would be good c: in that case i must have phantom limbs as well since during kin shifts ill feel hooves/antlers or claws and tbh it actually makes me really sad because i miss having them

I hope @liongoatsnake doesn’t mind me just using some of the sources they have gathered about this subject, because I really can’t go and extensively research something right now due to wrist problems and only have 2 or 3 sources of my own (and it’s specifically regarding the phantom genitalia that transgender individuals experience).

[Note: Supernumerary phantom limbs are specifically regarding phantom limb sensations of a limb that the individual experiencing the sensation in question has never had.]

Astral Limbs vs. Phantom Limbs

Phantom limbs and astral limbs are not the same things. These terms are frequently confused in the Tumblr otherkin community. 

Phantom limbs refer to the sensation of a non-existent limb. However, it is also used to refer to other phantom body parts (such as phantom genitalia found in some trans individuals) besides just arms and legs.

Astral limbs refer to limbs that are felt during astral projection.

If you do not like the term “phantom limb” there are ‘kin specific alternatives, such as “otherlimb,”and  “metalimb.”
