it took me way too long to start (as usual) but it was soooo much fun once i did! so much that i couldn't help but go beyond the requested 'lineart only' limit.

no bc summer rain by @astridthevalkyrie​ literally broke me. i INHALED that fic in three hours and i’m not okay. thank fucking god this is a series because with the way the first book ended i was ready to just collapse and cry

i have never felt the need to scream at two characters more in my life. not only was this enemies to lovers but also it was quite obviously idiots to lovers bc in the author’s own words:

reader on her first day: wow levi’s eyes are beautiful

reader for two years: if levi asked me to have sex with him i would

also reader: omg i have a crush on him??? how is that possible?????

romance is obviously not their priority, especially in the world that they live in, but it was so nice to see two characters (that seem like they would totally clash) bond so well together. and i have never fallen in love with levi harder than this. he’s so unintentionally funny and the way yn describes things is HILARIOUS

a speed run on my favorite quotes:

THEIR DYNAMIC WAS SO GODDAMN SEXY I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF. i was out there gasping out loud and blushing in public when i was reading this. why do i always fucking read the best fics in public

i love love love oc’s development. i love how she evolved over the course of her time in the cadet corps. i love her personality, her stubbornness, her spark and her flame. but most of all, i love her decision to stay true to herself. not everyone can dedicate their existence (and heart) to humanity. she knew she couldn’t (though maybe that’s up to change in the future). so she chose the garrison (which i lOwkey predicted and pat myself in the back for that one). don’t think it was selfish for her to do that. only soldiers who are 100% into their dedication should dare join the scouts. it just broke my heart that she avoided telling levi until he found out 💀

AND LEVI. god, his characterization was *chef’s kiss.* just the right amount of steely stoicalness mixed with an (almost surprisingly) big heart. i still can’t believe oc pulled away before he could properly kiss her back 🤨🤨anyways on to read silent storms!

Heather!

Give me a character and I will answer:

Why I like them

Her character is so interesting to me. I love her lone-wolf tendencies, her troubled past makes sense as to why she doesn’t want to let anyone help her. Plus there’s so much to her relationship with Dagur. She so motivated by family but also doesn’t want anything to happen to her new one (i.e the riders)

Why I don’t

This is mostly the writers fault, but so much wasted potential after they reconciled Heather and Dagur. 

Favorite episode (scene if movie)

Snow Way Out? I just really liked the double agent arc and the conflict it causes.

Favorite season/movie

Season 2 of RTTE, loved the double-agent arc.

Favorite line

I don’t remember all the headcanons I had for Heather, but I like to think that she tried to assassinate Dagur while he was in prison on Outcast island. 

Unpopular opinion

Personally, I don’t think having Heather centric episodes takes away from Astrid or Ruffnut centric episodes. Heather wasn’t even in Defenders of Berk and Astrid and Ruffnut barely got development. 

And to blame that on Heather is kinda dumb. What about Mala? and Atali and the wingmadiens? I liked them but they honestly did not need to introduce so many tribes. Especially since they didn’t really do anything? We were good with the Outcasts and Berserkers (even though they didn’t do much either in terms of aid.

I think the biggest problem about the show is how much they’re limited by the movies. They can’t give much development because it may contradict an upcoming movie. They can do whatever they want with the characters they introduced.
