rei i completely agree cmedjkskwksja while i know the gender jokes are mainly in good faith i really feel like it’s building up expectations on ranboo looking incredible and well, “genderman” or whatever. and not only that, be the “prettyboo” stuff as well. tbh i think it’s weird as hell that so many people want and expect faceless streamers to be incredibly Gorgeous so much. cant they just look like normal dudes? why are you even trying to figure out how someone you’ve never met and who doesn’t know you looks?? i think it’s weird and a tad parasocial and puts up expectations that are really unneeded. and not only does it bring situations like the dream dox one and people’s reaction to it, but it sucks when they do face reveal as well.

remember when sapnap face revealed? the amount of body shaming that went on? people expected him to look like some kind of hot jock and then when he was just A Guy people acted so disappointed like they were entitled to him being hot, like he owned it to them. same thing with sam: they got handsamdude trending but then would make mean comments every fucking where on twitter saying that they were just trying to be nice, they were disappointed, he looked like nothing much, blah blah blah and like. what the fuck

i get being like “oh yeah i have never seen this person but i love them so they look good to me no matter what” but i think doing that with faceless streamers is a bit,,,, parasocial. because you don’t know these people. they don’t know you. does that make sense? and even if it wasn’t, there’s a difference between that and genuinely constantly making art of faceless streamers where they look Exactly like the average out of the park beautiful dude. that’s setting up expectations.

nina the beloved you've put everything into words that i couldn't. i don't think ANYONE streamer's brand should revolve around their appearance (specifying "streamer" because i typed just "anyone" originally and then remembered that models existed askdhsk) especially if they're faceless but even if they're not - take george for example, who gets constantly feminized and treated like he's just a pretty guy and nothing more when the man's clearly not comfortable with it. george is so funny and cool and by FAR my favourite dteam member (i've grown from my old self who thought he was boring - turns out it was just the fan's perception of him that i despised) and he deserves way more than to be dumbed down to "petite pretty white man." obviously i know nothing like that will ever happen with ranboo to the same extent because he's a minor but i feel like the constant "haha ranboo's so gender prettyboo prettyboo he's stealing all my gender" jokes are gonna reach a point where someone's gonna need to say something to get them to stop
