Cyclic universes Put forth by Albert Einstein in 1931, the theory suggests that prior to the Big Bang, there was another universe that existed. This universe expanded, then contracted into what is called a "big crunch," and its contraction led to the Big Bang that created our universe . . What's your view on this? . In the Shadow of Saturn unexpected wonders appear. The robotic Cassini spacecraft orbiting Saturn drifted in the giant planet's shadow for about 12 hours and looked back toward the eclipsed Sun. Cassini saw a view unlike any other. First, the night side of Saturn is seen to be partly lit by light reflected from its own majestic ring system. Next, the rings themselves appear dark when silhouetted against Saturn, but quite bright when viewed away from Saturn and slightly scattering sunlight, in the above exaggerated color image. Saturn's rings light up so much that new rings were discovered, although they are hard to see in the above image. Visible in spectacular detail, however, is Saturn's E ring, the ring created by the discovered ice-fountains of the moon Enceladus, and the outermost ring visible above. Far in the distance, visible on the image left just above the bright main rings, is the almost ignorable pale blue dot of Earth. #astronomyclub #astronomydomine #astronomyphotography #astronomynerd #astronomylover #astronomypictureoftheday #astronomyclass #astronomyfacts #astronomypicturesdaily Original post by: astronomy.daily https://www.instagram.com/p/BnRtHt-nVpe/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=177b0kbyxc93o
Waters making sounds Astronomy Domine
Syd Barrett in 1967, by Alain Dister
[The Piper at the Gates of Dawn] [Pink Floyd] [1967] [LP] It's hard to believe that the release of Pink Floyd's debut album was 55 years ago yesterday. . I don't necessarily rate this debut album as one of Pink Floyd's best, but it is a very well-made solid psychedelic pop album which was also relatively successful. . "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" is a typical psychedelic pop album of the time with many creative ideas. However, there were many other bands besides the Beatles who made exactly this kind of music, some even better. I know, some Pink Floyd fans might want to stone me for this statement. But that's how I see or hear it. . In honour of Pink Floyd (which is one of my favourite bands after all!) I can name at least two titles that are outstanding. Perhaps you can already guess. Firstly, there is the brilliant "Astronomy Domine", which can also be found in an even better live version on the 1969 album "Ummagumma", and the wacky "Interstellar Overdrive". These two great pieces alone justify the existence of the whole album! I also find the tracks "Pow R. Toc H", "Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk" and "Chapter 24" particularly worth mentioning.
