Avant Garde theatre is a type of theatre that evolves as theatre evolves. Avant Garde theatre is always trying to break the common norms within theatre with its absurdity. Avant Garde theatre has had so many practitioners introducing new methods, that it has become so hard to define it, as it is always in a flowing process. Some Avant Garde practitioners are Alfred Jarry, Peter Brook, Luigi Pirandello and Richard Maxwell, Mac Wellman, and Young Jean Lee are the most recent ones. From my observation, it seems that the goal of Avant Garde theatre is to revolutionise it.
