Some people asked for more context. The ancient, apathetic stare of an immortal being, especially that of a former hero with a powerful coming of age story, really gets me here. Everything stays but still changes. I like how they acknowledge the terrifying possibility that even the beloved Marceline could transform into an ambivalent force of nature that’s been subjected to SO much emotional trauma, that she’s incapable of even processing it anymore.
