Atari Reveals the Atari VCS
Atari has revealed that the “Ataribox” has an official name, the Atari VCS.
And... No. Launch delayed by #Atari on their crowd funded game console, #Ataribox
Starting Today Ataribox Pre-Orders are Live
There's still some mystery floating around Atari's next great venture, the Ataribox. The return of this dormant player to the console race has surfed quiet waters during the last months. Quite frankly, to the point that no-one is really sure what to expect from this (maybe not so) retro piece of

Some Opinions 7/19/17: EVO Street Fighter Championships & Ataribox
I’m still having trouble with my internet service, so excuse the lack of content for the next couple of weeks. I’m currently daisy-chaining my PC to my IPhone and trying to browse via our terribly slow 3G.
Anyways, before my connection inevitably drops, I wanted to share some thoughts on a couple of things making the news in the comfortable bubble of video gaming.
Ataribox “Reveal”
Atari has been out of the console game since the release of the ill-fated Jaguar back in ‘93. 20+ years later, Atari wants to step back into the console market with their new “Ataribox”. Aside from some 3D renders of what the console will look like, Atari hasn’t released any details on specifications just yet. Will this console try and directly compete with the PS4/XBONE/Switch? Will it be another Android-based console ala the Ouya, or another plug-and-play?
So far, I don’t see anything worth getting excited over. The 3D renders and lack of details remind me way too much of the faux Coleco-revival console the “Chameleon”. I’ll reserve my judgement until we get some more info from Atari. Let’s hope this is something worthwhile and not a gigantic scam like the Coleco Chameleon.
EVO 2017 Street Fighter Championships
Competitive gaming is huge right now. So huge that the competitions are airing on friggin’ ESPN 2. I’ve sorely underestimated it, because it’s not something i’m into, but that changed Sunday night.
My wife and I were flipping through the channels when we seen that ESPN 2 and Disney XD were airing the 2017 EVO Street Fighter V Championships. I left it on out of curiosity and we both caught ourselves totally invested in this competition. Like any other international sport, we cheered on our countrymen with no idea who was who, enjoying the atmosphere of the event and skill displayed by the super-talented competitors.
These guys put on a heck of a show. You have your underdog comeback stories, humble competitors v.s cocky, brash competitors welcomed with a chorus of boos from the massive Las Vegas crowd (looking at you, fchamp).
It made for good television, and I recommend everyone to check it out at least once. I’ll personally be keeping an eye on future events. Who would’ve thought video games would become a multi-million dollar sport?
So this is what the Ataribox is good for!
