With the rise in AI, I am finding myself reflecting more on the world of the Atevi as created by C.J. Cherryh.

One of the dearly held values of the Atevi, across Ateva, was their profound respect for unique and handcrafted items.

Whether the item is a set of decorative tiles that have become a National Treasure or a well tailored coat, or even just a well penned letter to an associate.

It's not just Aesthetic(tm) for Profit.

Atevi do not love as humans experience the emotion, but, they do care. And they care greatly.

Yes, they are fictional people in a fictional universe.

The human capacity to imagine is endless. We constantly ask 'What if..."

Not sure how to clarifiy the rest of the roiling brain-mud, but I do want to think about how I can add my personal touch to things.

Found an abandoned sketch of Ateva from @isfjmel-phleg’s The BlackBerry Bushes. It will unfortunately remain abandoned for now because it smudged from too much erasing and I don’t believe I can fix it. I do mostly love her expression though

Decided I wanted more dynamic lighting and variation in their poses, so I scrapped the last four, and did some new sketches. So far mostly still figuring out nuances in shading and basic forms, so only Banichi has any actual rendering done.
