5 Reasons Why I didn't want Real Madrid to win Champions League
1. Money
The last time Real Madrid won the Champions League was over 10 years ago. Since then Los Blancos have spent 1 BILLION euros. This including the two biggest record signings, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo; as well as looking to break the record once again with Luis Suarez after his amazing Premier League season for 100 pound bid. Don't get me wrong, Real Madrid is an exceptional team with great coaching, but this just adds to the factor that football is all about money nowadays compared the the raw skill.
2. Ronaldo
This not being to much of a big deal since the game was already over, I feel that Ronaldo was being a prick with the way he celebrated after the penalty at the 120th minute even though it was 3-1. The fact that the game was generally over, the Ballon D'or winner felt it was right to take off his shirt and celebrate like a mad man. In my opinion he is the best player in the world and maybe in history, but when it comes to sportsmanship, I don't think so...
3. Athletico Madrid deserved it
Los Colchoneros had the lead since the 35th minute after a header from Diego Godin, and until the very last minute of injury time a corner flung into the box and Sergio Ramos tied it up. I'm sure it stung in the hearts of all Athleti fans. To be the underdogs of La Liga and come out on top and then almost winning the Champions League could of opened a whole new door for the La Liga Champions.
4. Diego Godin/Costa
With an amazing season for both players, their lives will change. The 28 year old Uruguayan international played a big part in the powerful back four of Atheltico Madrid's defense. Scoring 8 crucial goals in La Liga and which could of been the winning goal against Real in the Champions League final. Diego Costa could of won a Champions League title before he ships to Chelsea for the next season of the Premier League. The third top goal scorer in La Liga could of went out with a bang and impress the Chelsea boss Mourinho and encourage the fans to get psyched about the new transfer even more with the win. Unfortunately for Diego he was forced to come off just after 9 minutes due to a hamstring injury. In my opinion he would of changed the game if he was able to play.
5. Diego Simeone
The man with the tailored suit and the slicked back hair produced one hell of a season. With a team that didn't have much money to buy new players, he was able to come out on top of La Liga leading the team to their 10th title. Not to mention Champions League as he was able to triumph over teams such as Zenit, Porto, AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea. Then coming so close to only lose in the finals to the other team in the Madrid city to win La Decima! No doubt about it, Diego Simeone is one of the top managers in the world.
