it’s a cherished headcanon of mine that Atin insists some of the CoruFresh raid windfall is spent on enrolling Laseema into the University of Coruscant (among other things). that’s why I’ve always got her in UCor orange :p

I have a lot of deeply problematic blorbos so I respect that there are Vau appreciators on here who like him as a complex and interesting character. But I, personally, will fucking hate Walon Vau with an incandescent fervor for ever and ever. For Atin alone I will never forgive him.

Imagine the crushing horror of failing to protect the people most important to you in the midst of an uncontrollable blood bath. Imagine witnessing the quick successive deaths of the people who you shared your entire life with. And then being told that the grief you feel makes you defective. The GAR, through Vau, first tried to make Atin fight the brothers he had left knowing he couldn’t, and then mutilated him as punishment. Because he refused to report for duty like nothing was wrong, He had the gall to act like what happened to his brothers mattered. That their deaths weren’t meaningless numbers. That they were worth mourning.

Atin acted like a human being so Vau condemned him for life to one of the worst things that could happen to a clone- being easily distinguishable from the others. He would never reintegrate. He would never escape it, in any mirror he ever looked in, in the reaction of any brother who saw him with his helmet off. Vau said I will make sure you never meet a new squad who won’t ask you what happened to you, never find a brother who won’t make you relive your guilt and trauma all over again. You want to wallow in your grief? I will make sure that if you survive, you never truly leave it. I will make you live there. oh my fucking god Vau when I get you when I fucking get you

I am continuing my reading on the Hard Contact 's Republic Commando books, and I was waiting for this scene:

[...] A sudden clack of armor made her glance over her shoulder, and she was astonished to see Atin giving Darman an akward hug, slapping him on the back. She caught Darman's eyes: he looked bewildered. [...]

My draw didn't caught exatly the vibe of "akward hug" or "Darman's looked bewildered" will do better next time.
