Boyfriend Series: Mingi of Ateez
➤ Picture this: it's 2am, Monday night, and you've been trying to fall asleep for over an hour now. You have an exam at 9am and absolutely no revision has been done over the weekend. Then you get a text from an unknown number and all it says is "you got the good stuff?"
➤ That's the very first conversation and impression you had of Mingi. Just like him, it was weird.
➤ In all fairness, he did explain himself and introduced himself as one of Wooyoung's friends, and that he's been told by Yeosang that you're the one in charge of organising your mutual's friend's surprise party, and he was not, in fact, asking for drugs.
➤ After the confusing conversation, you agreed to meet up with the boy the next day after your exam to plan the party.
➤ He was goofy looking and really tall, and when he opened his mouth you understood just what he and Wooyoung had in common.
➤ You spent the next week planning Wooyoung's birthday party, growing closer together bit by bit, and when the day has come, you considered him your friend too.
➤ And then at the end of the night, he kissed you, right on the lips, right in front of Wooyoung and Yeosang and all his other friends, and you realised that he didn't see you as another one of his friends.
➤ Dates with Mingi are as wild as he is. This boy has more energy than a Border Collie; maybe that's why he's so tall, to spread all that energy around his body so he doesn't explode.
➤ Something you both found is that you enjoy playing paintball. He gets to exert his energy and you get to laugh at your boyfriend for all the times he trips during the game. (It’s a lot). He also gets super tired and you use that to your advantage and cuddle him after.
➤ He likes playing with your hair, and often when you're reading a book or typing on your laptop, he'll do just that. Bonus points if you're stressed out because somehow, it calms you down as well. You often find yourself melting inside his arms.
➤ He makes you laugh like no one else. You swear there's something addictive in his laughter because it makes you laugh too, and above all, it makes you happy. Mingi makes you the happiest you've ever been.
➤ You forced him to buy a giant cooking book, and now you spend weekends cooking new meals together and sharing dinners. It feels better than fancy restaurants because it feels like you're home, just by being with him.
➤ The others always storm in and steal your food, and you end up sharing with seven other hungry beasts. Eventually, you'll have to start cooking for them too. For now, you'll hope they'll one day stop (p.s. they won't).
➤ They love you because you give them food, and like Pavlov's dogs, get excited when they see you, thinking you'll somehow always carry food for all seven of them. You love them too, really - and how could you not, when they're the reason you get to see Mingi happy.
➤ Mingi rarely gets angry at you; he physically can't bring himself to. But you get angry at him a lot, but it's nothing a cuddle won't fix. Most of your fights are small and insignificant so it doesn't really matter. At the end of the day, you'll always fall asleep in his arms.
➤ Mingi always looks at you the way a child looks at a Christmas tree. You're full of wonder and surprises, but also love and comfort. You are his home, his light at the end of the tunnel, his promise that at the end of every hardship there is the promise of peace.
bonus:
"what the hell are you two up to?" you ask upon entering the boys' dorm, squinting your eyes and looking at mingi and wooyoung with suspicion.
the latter quickly shuts the laptop in front of him, shouting, "nothing!"
you raise an eyebrow.
"(y/n), I swear, it's nothing! don't you trust us?"
you raise your eyebrow even higher, if possible, then turn to your boyfriend. "mingi..."
"no! don't ask him!" wooyoung protests.
"mingi," you repeat yourself.
"wooyoung's planning a prank on yeosang," he mutters to you, and his face lights up when you give him a peck on the lips in thanks, then turn to leave the room.
"dude, you're so whipped it's actually embarrassing," wooyoung comments, rolling his eyes and opening his laptop back up.
"yeah." mingi sighs dreamily, head propped up on his hand, looking at the space you came from. "but is it such a bad thing?"
"yes."
