       it was safe to say that alberto didn’t spend TOO much time in the water if he could help it, usually only when scavenging for human items or hunting for food, or when he really just needed to burn off some energy. this was probably the longest he’d gone in the ocean for a long time, and probably the furthest away from the island he’d been for.. well, he didn’t even know, really. but it would seem that he should visit the deeper depths of the ocean more often, especially since he could see what looked like a human.  -- no scales in sight! weird. 

                      “ uh, alright. that’s.. new. ” 

swimming over to a large rock, alberto poked his head over the side of it, staring at the land monster in curiosity, before his eyes fixated on the large trident he had with him. his eyes widened slightly, sparkling slightly. oh. he liked that. would the human put it down? maybe he could grab hold of it if he got distracted... 

                   “ oooh --- big shiny.. pointy, thingy..”

“This one is you.” Mark was comfortable enough to have his mask pulled down as he sat cross-legged with his phone out. Out on the closest cliff he could find, the younger hero shoved his phone out to show Arthur a picture of what he was talking about. A Google image of a stubby squid was pulled up — One of the most ridiculous pictures that he could find. “Because you look ridiculosu.”

 it would be funny, his floundering with the extinguisher, if she really didn’t appreciate the being moved away bit.  she actively vocalizes her disapproval with a low call and a glare.  cade barely resists the urge to kick him when he nearly trips over the wheels.  “how have you survived this long?” she jabs her finger at his side with the sign for you.  “how did you even fuck up that bad?”  now that it’s out she can wheel herself over, cringing at the smoke that would likely set off the smoke alarm.   what’s left in the pan looks worse than some of the prey she’s eaten.  black and crusted and so disgusting she’d put money a tiger shark wouldn’t even touch it.  “so...you wanna order takeout?”  @atlantaen from here

𝐇𝐄   𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐃   𝐓𝐎   𝐁𝐄   𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐃   𝐎𝐅   𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 .          imagine that ?   spider - man .   scared   of   heights .   red - hot   adrenaline   flung   him   from   rooftops   when   he   was   fifteen ,   body   changing   from   more   than   just   hormones .   adrenaline   did   not   conquer   the   fear .          (   he   buried   it .   )          swallowed   that   writhing   monster   whole   and   leapt ,   weightless ,   at   the   sound   of   the   nearest   call .   spider - man   has   a   secret .          he’s   always   afraid .          perhaps   not   of   the   dizzying   view   from   the   top   of   a   skyscraper ,   but   there   are   new   worries ,   new   terrors ,   𝙉𝙀𝙒   𝙉𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏𝙈𝘼𝙍𝙀𝙎 .   he’s   fallen   too   many   times   to   fear   the   ache   of   meeting   concrete   below .

now   he   tumbles ,   graceless   —   wings   clipped ,   webs   reaching   for   stability   that   isn’t   given   —   &   falls .   his   luck   has   always   been   poor ,   his   life   a   cosmic   joke ;   peter   parker   is   crafted   with   stardust   &   𝙏𝙃𝙀   𝙄𝙍𝙀   𝙊𝙁   𝙂𝙊𝘿𝙎 ,   meant   to   be   the   plaything   of   the   multiverse .   with   every   arrow   that   finds   a   home   in   his   flesh ,          he   bleeds   violent ,   crimson   guilt .          𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓   𝐌𝐘   𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐊   tastes   familiar   on   his   tongue ,   ripped   from   between   his   teeth   by   the   wind .

i   hate   being   teleported   without   consent .   not   sexy .

the   ocean   rolls   underneath   his   form ,          endless   on   all   sides .          deep   sapphire   —   like   the   blues   of   his   clinging   suit ;   glittering   under   an   undaunted   sun .   𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄   𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 ,   𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄   𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 .   he   chants   in   his   head   as   though   the   incantation   will   change   him   into   a   wizard .   the   blue   grows   close ,   a   gaping   maw ;   hungry ,   eager   to   engulf   him .          it’s   so   easy   for   spiders   to   drown .

lithe   form   becomes   a   knife ,   taut   and   clasped .   he   closes   his   eyes   beneath   a   scarlet   mask .   braces   for   the   impact   that   will   inevitably   hurt .          (   it   always   does .   )          it   does .   a   gargantuan   splash   greedily   soaks   into   him ;   he   stops   falling .   𝐇𝐄   𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐊𝐒 .

Not many people knew about this quaint little cove, which made it the perfect place for Merliah to sneak away to when she needed a serene place to relax or sulk alone. Yet when she had snuck out of the house that night she hadn't expected to see an unfamiliar figure just sitting beside themselves, but she could feel something wasn't right so she approached with caution in case he lashed out at her due to instinct. Thankfully, he was emitting a calm energy but there was something obviously bothering him so out of the kindness of her heart she offered to talk it out with him.

" It can't be that boring. I mean I've heard some pretty long whoopers from my grandpa. "

She smiled softly, as she takes a few steps closer towards the other. She stopped  halfway to kneel to the ground folding one leg over the other. As his gaze settled upon her she remained calm to prevent him from feeling pressured to chat with her when they were nothing except strangers. However, when inquired if she had time to listen to his story, she nodded.

" Plenty. So what’s your story?  "

      You ever wake up from a lucid dream, run through the memories attempting to collect them all to make sense of a world that never really existed? -- And yet, it still feels as present as the actual representation of your life? As though it truly happened? As though it were any other day in your livelihood... That’s a bit of Laura’s life, a mess of patchwork from bits and pieces of distant dreams -- nightmares -- and the present, the here and now. Every morning she awakens, knowing, realizing what Transigen had done, and pondering how differently life could’ve gone had Arthur never became the staple that he is in her life.       Even though she recognize the error of this mindset, it’s been her entire life. Dreaming of it all; the torture, the yearning to not want to exist, even at the ripe age of five-years-old... when you are born merely to take life, it sucks the very soul from you. Most of the children didn’t survive, Laura? Had gotten lucky.       Gawking briefly into the mixture of milk and colourful bits of cereal swirling about, Laura becomes trapped within thought -- reminiscing on this very detail. It comes and goes in waves, she can be completely fine, go about living her life as though it’s any normal day, as if she’s any normal human. But she knows damn well she’s not... and somehow, for some reason she’s left feeling... guilty over it. Springing from her thoughts when she hears Arthur drawing nearer, she sets her spoon aside and piles her set of books together with a sigh.            “Don’t forget I’ve got Soccer try-outs.” seemingly mundane request, but it feels nice -- to be... normal, even knowing the real fear that burdens them ( the ‘berserk-rage’ serum is still out there... ) “And it’s my turn to make dinner so what do you want?”

Its been over a decade since Cecilia has seen or heard from her family. But it seems despite the lack of their hold on her, she still feared the ocean. She’s aware of what she is, but it was never truly explained to her or why the sea is a danger. So she left it at that for most of her life... until now. She’s been questioning herself quite a bit about who she is and what she really wants in life. Things have been so stale, so boring. To combat that, she wants to see what this hangup is about her being in the blue abyss.

With a beach picked off the coast where no one lived and certainly no tourists, she makes her way down to the shore. Her clothes and personal effects are left in a bag, safely tucked away while she wears just her bikini. Its just after sunrise, and the sun feels nice on her skin. With a deep breath, she slowly walks into the water until she’s completely under it. She had no idea what to expect, but being able to breathe was not something she knew would happen.

During her childhood, she was kept away from bodies of water. She kept up with that habit even as an adult, but it seems she needs no lessons as it just feels so... natural. Swimming down and in, it feels so strange to be up close and personal with the sea creatures. She’s only even seen them in books and aquariums until now. Not paying attention as she gently touches a colorful fish, she bumps into a rock and gives herself a graze. Nothing thinking anything of it, she continues her exploration.

But as she continues, she feels a presence. Pausing and looking around, Cecilia spots something she wasn’t expecting. A shark, and quite a big one. She had always been told they could mistake you for a fish if you’re swimming, but it just sees her as food. Her blood smells quite nice it seems, even if she very much does not agree. Unsure if she can out swim the shark, she freezes with her quickly sinking in fear. The danger her mother always warned her about, its staring her in the face.
