In this blog I talk alot of heroes and how sports players/movie stars are called heroes but really aren't. well I took the time today to think about it, and I've decided on several 'Types' of heroes...
Hero of the Light: This person typically takes every opportunity they can to help someone, usually life saving, and are known for doing so. These people can be found often in professions like: doctors, nurses and emergency services, but also psychiatrists do it too.
Hero of the Shadows: Unlike Heroes of the Light, these people focus on one person. they probably know that person's every like and dislike, all their favourite and most hated memories, they are the shoulder the person cries on and the arms that defend them, and yet aren't really noticed. not even getting the title of "best friend" in alot of cases.
Hero of Valour: a person who can make a split second decision despite their self preservation instincts to help others; the soldier who holds off an enemy advance as his squad retreats, the man who throws himself into a lake after a drowning person, or into a burning building to save those trapped. Alot of Hero's of Valour get about 15 minutes of fame in the local area and are then forgotten by all but who they saved.
Hero of the masses: I know I shouldn't put this in, but its the only way I can rationalize the public view of a hero... people who obtain great goals and become rolemodels for large groups of people. a sports star, an actor/actress, or even a contest(next top model, biggest loser) winner.
