this began as a fic about just zuko and katara at the jasmine dragon, then in my panic that i couldn’t finish it, scrapped the whole thing and drew this. now it just sort of turned into a “gaang suspects z + k are hiding a secret relationship, but it turns out they were just inventing boba tea (and also flirting, lots & lots of flirting) -- toph is delighted to have some new blackmail material, aang is very happy for his friends, sokka has needs to have a word with them immediately and suki just wants her boyfriend to chillax.

This is my gift to @nooowestayandgetcaught for #atlawinterfest2020 :D they gave a lot of holiday themed prompts, and it inspired me to draw the boys in holiday sweaters. Given how goofy their dynamics can be, I used a promo image for Aunty Donna’s Big Old House of Fun as reference. Since this isn’t something I would have otherwise drawn, I decided to try a different style for it. I tried to emulate Devin Elle Kurtz’s style/methods and I don’t think I came anywhere close, but I definitely learned a lot! As for Zuko being grumpy: 1) he’s Zuko, and 2) I figured if they were to all gather at the southern water tribe for some festivities, Zuko would forget to bring anything fun and have to borrow from Hakoda, who is bigger than him.

Here is my gift for @asajjvxntress​ for the @atlawinterfest2020​!!  She requested Zutara, so here’s a cuddly pencil sketch with a drabble to along with it :)

It was routine at this point.  The slower mornings, where the world wasn’t tugging at them with responsibility right at sunrise, functioned in calm repetition.  Deep breaths.  A fresh pot of tea.  Zuko would often read, something fictional and fantastical as a breather from the political jargon that made up most of his working days.  Katara would soak in the winter sunlight from the window, meditative.  The two of them would snuggle together, cozy in their water tribe blues.

Inevitably, Katara would get lost in her thoughts, and the tea in her hands would go cold.  One sip, the temperature change noticed, a face pulled.  Automatically, she sticks the cup to the side, interrupting Zuko’s line of vision.  No words need be exchanged, she doesn’t even need to look at him for him to know what she means.  She just feels him huff a fond laugh against her back, and then his hand is wrapping around her tea cup and warming it up exactly right.  Still staring out the window, grinning, she takes it back.  Sips.  It’s perfect now, and she relaxes further into Zuko’s side as the warmth runs through her.

She twists, presses a kiss to his cheek as a thank you.  Even though this happens constantly, he still grins wide, blush heating his cheeks.  

They keep each other warm nowadays.

Do girls usually come back to tea shops everyday for their regulars, or is Zuko just completely over thinking?
