Ok, I’m a little late to the game here but I’m sure most people are aware of the change in voice for Pollo that appeared in the beginning of the ROMtrospective(Which I liked). Personally, I have no problem with Pollo’s new voice. The person providing it is Alex Tansley aka Masterthecreater on DeviantArt( http://mtc-studios.deviantart.com ), who is the title card artist for AT4W, which I think is cool since it’s neat to see people contribute to other’s work. He appeared once before in a Previously On... Segment along with several other title card artists and now, he’s providing his voice for the show, almost also seems like a cool back and forth collaborative effort by the two of them since Lewis is providing his voice for his project, Fiona Frightening and the Wicked Wardrobe. I like Alex’s voice and I look forward to seeing/hearing more of him as Pollo but I’m curious as to why the change...though I have some Theories.
One aspect could be that Lewis just wanted a change of pace. After all, over a year ago, he changed his review outfit to the vest and tie. It’s possible that maybe Lewis wanted to change up Pollo and give him an expressive voice instead of a computer program voice. However, I also sense an ulterior motive.
In the first Atop the Fourth Wall DVD, Lewis had a featurette going into Character Origins about how his different characters came about and how they’ve developed over time. In the Pollo interview, He mentioned that one of the reasons Pollo didn’t speak in his origin appearance was that Lewis wasn’t sure about the legality of using the program in a commercial property. With the AT4W Movie in production and starting shooting soon, The voice change might have been to avoid legality or lawsuits from the other program he uses.
However, like I said in the first paragraph, I welcome Alex Tansley as the new voice actor for Pollo and look forward to more appearances by him.
