1: Derek isn’t sure when is the first time it happens; probably it’s in infancy, it’s not like he’d remember, or have recognized what was going on.
2: He’s between projects, and maybe that’s what starts it, or at least what makes room for it in the quotidian rituals of his life.
3: “Musician?” the man asks, sidling up next to her at the bar, and Tauriel's far enough into her third Barman's Special that it takes her a minute to realize he's addressing her.
4: The first thing that shows up in his quarters is a small stone.
5: Tyler’s all the way across the room when he hears that laugh, and he can't help but smile as he sets his glass on the table to be refilled.
6: Commanding. It’s a good word, at least to him- one doesn’t just command troops, or a starship; one also commands things like attention, or respect, both of which Janeway does in spades.
7: Roger after Mimi’s death is different than any Roger Mark’s seen before.
8: Jim’s stomach rolls as Pike tells him the details, and he can tell by the look on the admiral’s face that Pike would like to personally snap the necks of all involved.
9: Jim opens the door to his quarters, allowing himself a long, drawn-out, sigh as he pulls the pips from his collar and drops them on the table just inside the room.
10: It was her idea to go to Paris for his birthday; the Captain’s, Kathryn’s, idea.
i think the thing i find most surprising is the number of fandoms involved here- i used to really only write one fandom at a time, and that's very clearly no longer true. it's a pretty solid mix all the way through, actually: fantasy and sci-fi; gay and het; short and long; crack and serious. i almost never start with dialogue, but i knew that. there are more names than i expected, i can be very bad about that but maybe i'm getting better!
