it is very, very tempting, i’ve always wanted a pair but they are v expensive and seem to have little to no arch support, sadly. ugh. i am pining, though. SO PRETTY.

If you can eventually spare the cash, you might want to look into orthotics. They are removable and can go into any shoe, and are specifically crafted for your feet.

i actually had orthotics as a teenager, wore them for about 10 years in those old Colorado boots i mentioned, but they wound up pretty gnarly. the main problem i found with them was their width; they made fitting into most shoes very unpleasant and tight because they took up space vertically. which is why i ended up with those boots twice in a row i think, they had more space for my feet.

it may well be worth looking into getting another pair of orthotics though, i’m sure the technology has come a bit further in the last 20 years. and i may be able to claim them on my health card, or at least get a disability discount.

if you want to give your chucks new life, can you find some dr. scholls inserts? you can save up for other shoes for your therapy etc. if they have high arch support or you can find the right inserts?

i don’t think we have Dr. Scholls in Australia, one of the things that has frustrated me infinitely since it’s a big fixer suggestion in a lot of posts i’ve seen. will keep looking for an equivalent though.

Oof.. the good news is that I'm a pro at shopping for shoes for problem feet, the bad news is that all my advice involves going to a store at least once. Poke me if you want to hear it anyway. :)

Cee recommended the same in our chat so i will def go get my feet measured tomorrow at a local place that i know does it for free. hopefully i can go at a nice quiet time and avoid too many shoppers, but i will get back to you once i know how bad they are. they’re already basically monster feet (AU size 10) but width wise they’re a lot worse than they used to be bc of all the years of barefoot.

Do you have any good shoe stores around? It just seems like it would be easier to try something on before spending the big bucks. Alternatively, I use Zappos because their return policy is amazeballs. Buying shoes online is hard.

i actually tried to go and do some trying-on yesterday but, as is always the case, the three sports stores i snuck into had literally nothing in my size. stupid goddamn monster feet. i do need to find a bigger store with more options, but i may have to go a lot further for it.
