okay but our beloved summer au??? i feel like we talked about the ER fics already, but if there's one here that you didn't tell me about (in which case how dare you) then pretend i asked about it too please and thanks.

The obs fic is NOT er sadly, it is timeless garcyatt because i was watching the show and kept thinking "all the fucking problems would be solved if they all just got together. for fuck's sake." so i'm making it happen.

it's a multichapter beast and the plot is all done i just need to write it. easier said than done unfortunately.

“My first impression of Wyatt?” Lucy Preston, freshly seventeen, asks. She is sitting neatly in one of those high school chairs far too small for the changing frames of teens entering and exiting puberty. Lucy is not exactly a dwarf of a girl, but she is comfortable in the chair as she is in her dark, bouncy curls and her thick-framed red glasses. Her Catholic school-dictated uniform vest is tucked into her ironed plaid skirt. Her socks roll up neatly to cover her knees and nothing more. Everything is as she intended, and whatever isn’t she has forced into her control. She turns to regard the wild creature next to her. Wyatt Logan, soon-to-be seventeen, shuffles in the plastic seat. He has no command over the item, as he has none over his crumpled shirt collar, his wrinkled pants, his untucked vest. His hair is an unkempt, breezy mess; it is the type of blonde that would catch sweetly under the sunlight. But there is no sunlight in this room. Just fluorescent classroom lighting, a hot tungsten spotlights, and two teenagers from different planets. Lucy finishes with her evaluation. She turns to the camcorder, which zooms in just slow enough to catch the displeased curl of her lip before she wills it away with a viciously charming smile. “I first met Wyatt Logan in sophomore year,” she begins.

1. what song makes you feel better? It shifts. Probably something by Taylor Swift, big fan of singing 22 in the car (despite being much older than 22!)

14. favorite feel-good show? Bones or Castle or Murdoch Mysteries. The procedural element is repetitive and safe and everything is (mostly) wrapped up and happy at the end of the 42 mins.

i kind of want to ask you all of the writing questions, but that would be really annoying. 1, 9, 33, 34 & 35, please!

Hi <3 it would be a VERY LONG post if you asked me all of them!

1. I use Calibri because it's the default. I don't really mind a font as long as it's easy to read. My most recent project has a 'fact' at the beginning of each chapter (a fact in the story but something I made up) and I've used Bookman Old Style in italics for that, to separate it and because I think it looks nice.

9. Yes, I believe in ghosts. And I like to write about them.

33. I like crafty things (I've dabbled in crochet, scrapbooking, card making, cross stitch and miniatures. I'm thinking of giving watercolours a go). But writing is my main passion and the other things are unconnected.

34. I'm pro Oxford comma. But it doesn't annoy me when other people don't use it.

35. It would have to be 'show don't tell'. I think the advice is overdone and there's a danger of trying not to name an emotion and skirting around a subject. I think there's a case for blending showing and telling, name the emotion and show the impact.

Ooh, this is tough. Eyes, I guess? And human bodies in general tbh, although the latter is highly dependent on if my hands are loose enough the day of to create nice lines.

25. Based on your recent reference searches, what would the FBI assume about you?

I strangely haven’t searched up new references lately (just the ones I already have saved.) I think the last time I was looking up antique weapons for the Arcane AU so...the FBI probably think I’m a high school terrorist kid who also likes DnD/Fantasy.

🧠 What’s an idea you have that you can’t quite call a WIP yet?

I think we talked about it in the server but there’s a one-shot I’m desperate to write that continues on “If Not Now” with a focus on Luka’s character (since we didn’t get that in the episode!) Basically, Luka’s all excited for the kid and his new chance at fatherhood until he has a really bad day at the hospital, where a young mother loses her husband and her infant daughter in the same day. Luka goes home and tries to work on the nursery--but he can’t. He can’t put the crib together, not again. All the terror of repeating his history, pushed aside in his excitement, comes crashing down on him.

I’ve sat down to write this at least five times now, and couldn’t get a proper opening in. gkjsdhfkdjsf. And I can’t do the whole “write from the middle” thing because that’s even more confusing to my poor brain.

From my post-canon boston Luka/Abby fic:

The apartment, while smaller, also boasts a roof Joe begs to go to every day. They acquiesce almost all the time—Luka once did at night, and Abby would have fumed at him if he didn’t wrap Joe up in enough scarves to nearly suffocate their poor son. On the roof, Joe plays airplane, yelling wheeeeeee as he sticks his arms out to the side and runs around in figure-eights until he gets too close to the edge, at which point Luka whisks him up in his arms and scolds him in a string of Croatian until Joe’s excitement has subdued to a small cheeky pout.

Some days, Abby holds Joe up high in the air, feeling like the monkey from The Lion King, and watches him try and catch the clouds in his hands. Some nights, she puts the baby monitor in her pocket and follows Luka up to the roof, where he’s laid out a picnic mat, and they lie on their backs and look at the dizzying stars. If she stares long enough, it feels like she could lick them with her tongue. She imagines they’ll taste like salt.

👀 Do you have any WIPs that you would never let see the light of day? If yes, what are they about?

I have this giant Arcane AU Timeless fic I’ve literally poured my heart and soul into, but the story is so big and I am extremely torn about certain characters (there’s an OC in there and I am struggling to balance her presence in the story) and at this point, very unlikely it could come to light. I hope it will, because it’s got some really awesome scenes I want to write. But, sigh, unlikely.

do I like them: Yes, I do. But compared to some of the other guys on the show he's a little bland. (Shout out to this show that Ravi, Clive and Major are all good guys though!)

5 good qualities: Funny, kind, loyal, resourceful, resilient.

3 bad qualities: Stubborn, oversteps his role (usually for admirable reasons but it leads to bad things), blandness (sorry Major).

favourite episode/etc: I liked how much he cared about the missing kids in S1.

otp: Major/Liv - I didn't super ship it but it seems right that they should be together. Major/Natalie had good chemistry.

brotp: Major/Ravi - so here for the Rajor bromance!
