DR Protag. Diner AU (Protag. Roles)

Have you ever thought: hey what would happen if the DR protagonists were all waiters/waitresses?

...Just me? Okay...

I have drabbles but just to share this lil idea where the protags are all servers for a diner and flesh out the concept of their roles in the au (gonna update/edit periodically):

Shuichi:

Newest employee

Got a part-time job at the diner to help start up his own detective agency (He wants to save up despite the monetary gifts that some people do give him for helping them).

Makoto:

One of the original workers who wanted to support Byakuya’s business (even though his family’s already branched out and pretty rich)

He's the manager since Togami's usually away

Komaru:

One of the newer workers.

Got in because of nepotism (the real reason is that Komaru did Togami a favour by giving Touko a friend that took her attention away from him. If she wasn’t capable, he would’ve fired her right away.)

Hajime:

Applied because he wanted a part-time job because he’s saving up for university (he’s working hard for that scholarship but wanted some experience working in an environment).

Is now in university but still sticking at the diner, and is one of the OGs. Pretty good at his job.

Predictably short-tempered and usually deals with the more rowdy customers.

Has met Komaeda during high school, did NOT get along well at first, but now he just banters with him. They’re flirting, they’re not mad at each other. They could prob act less… charged about it though [it’s the fact that they’re not dating yet probably]. 

Kaede:

Helped Shuichi get his job.

She’s fairly new but got along well with Makoto, so it was easy for Makoto to bring up Shuichi’s resume to Togami. Togami obviously approves, but only after an interview where Togami trolls Shuichi by having Makoto act as the owner (he almost practically is) and interview him, and then see how Shuichi deals with that (kind, but firm about the lie, which he respects).

Kaede herself is a huge sunshine girl, but definitely doesn’t take anybody’s shit. She’s awesome and friendly.

Why is she working at the diner despite her passion for piano? It’s not for very long. She wanted experience in a “real job” just to see how she’d fare, and relate a little more to others around her. On the few days she’s not working, you’ll find her performing or practicing

bad one night stand fic prompts

we drunkenly hooked up at my place and there was a blizzard, so we’re trapped together for a few days

Gamer!Kaede HCs (+ some other Talentswap AU things)

My girl Kaede is 1000%:

Always tired because she stays up playing games and is on the grind 24/7

Is a streamer as well as takes classes at Hope's Peak (She does touch grass)

She loves rhythm games and dating sims, and her least favourite are fighting games and horror games (but she's still pretty good at them, although horror games scare her)

She doesn't like Just Dance. She's TERRIBLE at dancing, but she finds it a fun game regardless and enjoys it more seeing her friends being silly (Kokichi's gonna break his ankles and "Miu please don't break the controller") or the real dancing pros while playing (i.e. Maki and her ballet or Tenko with breakdancing)

Sometimes people will come up to her saying they recognize her because of her streams

She often deals with "why do you take games so seriously" and she's very passionate about games being about fun and enjoyment, but also knows how doing well on a leaderboard can be a part of that

She's 100% a perfectionist, she wants the S rankings and to top frag/be the winner and to unlock the best endings

She's also quite competitive but she's not the boastful type (unless she's playing against Kokichi whenever she can convince him to, because HE is the boastful type and she wouldn't miss an opportunity to put him in his place)

In the past she's been asked by other people to be the "carry" and at first it flattered her until it just became her doing all the work while they went AFK or gave her their phone/console, which was heavily isolating and upsetting for her

In that sense, she dislikes people who completely rely on her rather than just play the game, which is why she doesn't play multiplayer games as often unless she's off-stream and on an alt

Also she's been teased for liking games and called a "Game Freak" bc she enjoyed them but as she grew up games became more mainstream. She's still self-conscious about bringing up her passion though

She's super upbeat but will make references from time to time that some people may not catch about gaming

She also thinks in gaming references (i.e. Tsumugi's like an NPC) and not overly familiar with being social (she's a little awkward, just kind and used to having a persona that presents as social- courtesy of streaming)

Quirky RC!Hajime - Talentsharer HCs

This is kind of a different approach to Hajime having all the talents at once, and merely just him having access to one talent at a time through whichever Ultimate touched him recently (or vice versa). He's still a Reserve Course student, he's just a little quirky (HAHA).

How long does it apply for? For an hour or two before wearing off.

How does it work? For the duration, Hajime will exhibit similar interests and experience as the person who interacted with him, but he won't have the same quirks (i.e. Being the Ultimate Musician, he'll have a nice voice/desire to sing, write songs, and play instruments, but he won't have the same music taste as Ibuki). Afterwards, it just fades away slowly until all the knowledge and experience is gone completely (sorry, I imagine Hajime's voice is also average, which honestly, mood). His memory of what he did and accomplished doesn't go away though. If someone else touches him before the hour ends, his thoughts will shift accordingly to the new person's talent and the previous talent isn't accessible anymore (i.e. if he's tinkering with something because of the Ultimate Mechanic talent but Mikan trips and accidentally bonks Hajime in the head, he'll be unable to finish the project).

Who's giving their talent most often? Kazuichi and Ibuki through constant casual touches and/or hugs (mainly Ibuki for that one). You can bet 100% you've got a Hajime having to deal with a sudden compulsion to fix everything with schematics in his head, along with very sensitive hearing mixed with a love for humming and strumming. Nekomaru's up there too, because he comes up to Hajime to give him a hearty slap on the back and give him tips to be a great rugby player. It makes Hajime match his energy and suddenly they're plotting together on how best Hajime could succeed ("Hey, actually, don't you think I'd make a great snowboarder?") As well, Hajime looks at his classmates and mentally judges whether their physique would befit an athlete in x sport, and makes off the cuff comments about it.

Who's giving their talent least? Nagito goes out of his way to avoid touching or interacting with Hajime when he knows he's in the Reserve Course (Nagito gets a LIL curious though when he observes Hajime hanging out with his fellow classmates). Peko isn't the type to touch people unwarranted, even casually. Kuzuryuu isn't either, but he'll give Hajime a friendly shove every once in awhile. I can't imagine Mahiru touching him much, but they do get along decently enough.

How does this affect Hajime's day to day life? No one actually knows about it, and he's not even aware of it. Once he meets Chiaki, he still isn't aware of it. After all, it's kind of hard to notice if you're not interacting with Ultimates that much. It becomes prevalent after he's been adopted by Class 77-B and he's being casually touched or brushed against, with his impulses shifting in different directions. He starts noticing it and he thinks he's gone insane, and that's when he tries talking about it with other RC students and a handful of Ultimates. Nagito's pretty interested in this whole mystery and how it manifests, considering the circumstances. Chiaki says he's collecting power-ups. "Like Pokemon! Why don't you try to collect 'em all?" "...yeah, no thanks, I don't want to get my ass kicked by Mahiru."

How would this impact the Killing Game? Well, the implications are kind of silly... for instance, when Hajime's trying to figure out his talent with Nagito, he'll be casually brushed (or bumped into) by his classmates and suddenly have hints of having that talent (I have a drabble for this). Of course, the knowledge wears off, and it's dismissed for being beginner's luck. On that note, Nagito considers the idea that perhaps Hajime also has a luck based talent or something to that effect, but they don't get to pursue that thought much before, well, y'know. Also features some shenanigans where Nagito brushes Hajime throughout the game and Hajime starts dealing with a luck cycle but on steroids (considering the 1-2 hour length). Imagine that just because Nagito touches Hajime through encouraging shoulder grips and wrist grabbing, the whole killing game doesn't even start because other chaos ensues. Even Monokuma is baffled because there's suddenly a tsunami??? He didn't even do that???

I 100% made this because I want to make (more) drabbles for this.

I love Hajime and I'm not overly partial to giving him a talent (although I do have a talentswap AU with him having one bc that's free real estate), but I do find the idea of giving Hajime in a non-despair AU (or even in context to the game) something a little unique fascinating.

I do have more concepts along the lines of "Hajime is a Reserve Course student but he DOES have something strange about him". All of the ideas are on a silly note and not the most logical, but I do enjoy finangling them around in my head.

Also, unintentionally I made most of the Quirky RC concepts so far with him meeting Nagito first instead of Chiaki (except this one). I do have a reasoning for that. I needed to give Hajime a reason to be... less willing to meet the Ultimates. That'll makes sense whenever I post my next quirky!hajime idea.

Genshinronpa - HCs 1

As a segway into me flip-flopping through my various drabbles and fandoms, consider some Genshin Impact characters in the Danganronpa Killing Game (I'm so sorry to do this to you beloved characters). Will say anything past Inazuma-lore I'm completely lost in and I'm just pulling from my archives.

Barbara is so 100% dead I can't see her surviving a killing game. She would be targetted. She's also the Ultimate Idol. Now, to subvert expectations, consider a Barbara who is so overwhelmed by the prospect of a Killing Game and learning about a Jean who's been captured as a motive and thinking "Jean would do anything to save me, wouldn't she? But she'd never hurt anybody... But how can I sit here when she's in danger? I don't want to let her down!" And that facilitates her to work with others in trying to end the Killing Game but after exhausting all options she's thinking about the only viable way to get out so far. It'd be very rough :'>.

Similarly if Jean was in the situation she would swear never to kill but she probably would to protect someone. Someone would attempt to go after her sister and she would fight with her all to protect her. She would be the Ultimate!Knight.

May be biased but Xingqiu seems like he'd be a great detective, at least in terms of helping out with the case than actually being a detective. He strikes me as the Ultimate Writer. Also I can totally see him annoying "Monokuma" by reading during his lectures of how everything works. Xingqiu is also heavily inclined to maintain fighting for the weak and being a hero.

Following the Dangan trend of killing off bulky characters (which Itto s h o u l d be, character model why!!!!!) Itto would be a victim, but there would be a whole impactful scene. He is the Ultimate Deliquent. He's a loveable guy (despite being easy to rag on) and he'd be good at keeping up morale and holding on to a firm stance of preventing deaths and finding an alternative way out.

I love Xiangling but for some reason I think she'd probably be a blackened. She's very creative, it'd definitely be in her wheelhouse to successfully pull it off and win a trial. I can also see her being framed. Of course, she'd be the Ultimate!Chef.

...In my notes, I wrote down "Bennett's like the less unhinged Nagito" which is a CRAZY concept and 100% only in referral to the whole luck thing rather than sharing the same ideals or intelligence as Nagito (not to say Bennett's not smart, but Nagito thinks on a diff level that I also cannot comprehend). It would be ironic for Bennett to be the Ultimate Luck, although he's usually met with misfortune so... Ultimate Bad Luck? Just from that title, most would avoid him even though his luck mostly impacts himself. He'd face alienation but try his best to be welcoming and attentive whenever anyone talks to him. He'd get disheartened, but in the killing game he'd totally get friends. I think he'd make a great survivor with a character arc related to struggles in trusting others.

If any of the archons (and adepti + Yae + fully powered Traveller twins) were involved, the whole Game is doomed like Zhongli would just say "I WILL HAVE ORDER!" and the whole game-stage is crushed, like, don't know what to tell you. Being trapped? All Zhongli's got to do is break through everything ez. Venti may have a harder time admittedly, but being the wind I'm sure he can slip out although whether he intervenes or not is yet to be seen (he would). Ei would be having NONE of it like she'd totally go after the mastermind purely out of spite for wasting her time. To be fair, forcing the archons into such a game would probably never happen whatsoever but if they WERE, it'd be really funny.

Talentswap AU - Nanamiki HCs

I'm posting these in case I don't finish the drabble I wrote for them in time for when I usually post things.

Ultimate Baker Chiaki:

Chiaki spaces out a bunch

She takes naps while waiting for something to bake and wakes up bc of her timer’s alarm

Chiaki’s ace but not aro (yet also she’s figuring out how not aro she is bc her and romance never really aligned much until Mikan)

Her favourite things to bake are custard buns

Her favourite flowers are sunflowers

When baking, Chiaki hyper-focuses on getting the right measurements, the right airiness, the right amount of mixing, etc. etc. and everything else sort of gets tuned out

Chiaki’s palate is sensitive, so you won’t find her eating spicy things much. She’s not afraid to work with spice though (although taste testing is gonna hurt…)

Sleep schedule? What’s that? Chiaki bakes all day and her sleep is during the times the oven is on and its door is shut (do NOT try this at home, that is 100% NOT safe)

Chiaki loves baking because she enjoys the trial and error process, and not necessarily because she wants to feed others (but she does have to do something about her creations, and she likes seeing other people happy with something she made)

On that note, she’s not someone who usually takes requests (and why she won’t open a bakery) because she prefers baking what she wants, yet she will for the people she’s closest to

Ultimate Florist Mikan:

She has deffo cut herself on thorns (she does wear gloves! sometimes…)

Flower love language? ABSOLUTELY! She lives and breathes it and loves requests related to it

Mikan’s bi (bi gang rise up)

Her favourite flowers are hyacinths (in all their many colours, but white particularly)

Her favourite thing that Chiaki bakes are soft, plain dinner rolls. She loves being able to quickly nyom without too much hassle

Mikan makes potpourri and sells that too 

Mikan 100% knows flower anatomy and will speak about it in extensive detail (and make jokes about it)

Lowkeys always has her gardening apron on and she got it fitted along with her gloves

She grows her own flowers and also sells them (it’s flowers in particular because they were her only comfort sometimes)

Them HCs:

Mikan gives her flowers or potpourri dishes sometimes dedicated to her love and adoration for Chiaki and Chiaki decorates her dorm with them 

Mikan gazes at Chiaki while she naps 

Mikan isn’t that big of a sweets fan, but she does love Chiaki’s food so Chiaki gifts her with treats and bread every so often 

Physical affection? Chiaki dotes HARD. Cuddling is free real estate. Mikan’s equally as touchy, but usually doesn’t initiate in fear of causing discomfort (but usually Chiaki’s okay with it and she voices as much)

Their height diff is so cute, Mikan leans down to place forehead kisses on Chiaki (which she’s cool with btw!)

Mikan is basically Chiaki’s pillow and she is NOT complaining

Chiaki is SO patient she’s willing to hear Mikan out or be there for her or give her space when she needs it

Mikan worries she’s doing a bad job doing that for Chiaki, but she’s not, Mikan always communicates and asks Chiaki about her comfort 

Chiaki makes the conscious effort to be more forthcoming and tries not to say wishy-washy uncertain statements when it comes to Mikan (saying “You’re adorable” instead of “You can be pretty adorable.”) 

She sometimes says wishy-washy statements because she’s embarrassed at being forthcoming but she gets more comfortable longer into their relationship

Chiaki and Mikan watch horror movies and Chiaki expects Mikan to cling to her during it but is surprised to find Mikan completely fine 

Also they DO have movie nights and they are 100% a ploy to drag Chiaki away from baking for a while 

Mikan rants (and yes! Mikan being around someone she trusts means passionate ranting) around Chiaki about some bouquets she made that day or even about bad customers and Chiaki blissfully listens as she’s preparing dough

The flower shop Mikan runs also sells some treats that Chiaki made

Although Chiaki’s very used to it, Mikan is DEFINITELY worried about Chiaki’s room burning down and switches between eyeing the oven for a bit before going back to looking at a napping Chiaki and making her more comfortable

While Chiaki bakes, she ain’t cooking, and Mikan deffo isn’t (she did try and she’s actually pretty good at simple dishes, but she doesn’t like cooking), so they’re the type to order something when they want other types of food

Chiaki definitely makes flower puns/jokes and Mikan will be amused on principle (being used to it with a small smile) but if anyone else does it, she will be very intolerant (“W-what? What are you saying? You shouldn’t sully flowers like that…”)
