Audint- Delutions of the living dead

An exploration of alternitive pasts as means to investigate the future? Eveything is haunted by the possibilities of what could have been and maybe what should have been and audint explore this idea through soundscape and images. They waeve fact with fiction to create something that feels real but acts as more of a Delution, and considering the work explores sonic waves manipulating humans into believing they have no blood or organs it leave you questioning whats real and whats fake.

The unsound methods of AUDINT - The Wire

Eleni Ikoniadou and Lendl Barcelos talk extreme frequencies, cryptic records and sonic warfare with the audiovisual research group

AUDINT – whose name is an abbreviation of Audio Intelligence – is a research cell with a double aim: to conduct theoretical and artistic experiments at the peripheral zones of sound, and to investigate their impact on psychological and physiological states. These zones are what AUDINT refer to as unsound: audio-related phenomena in the wider vibrational spectrum which, they argue, are capable of offering insights into the unknown aspects of perception. Their mission is to probe peripheral zones of sound, those frequencies, such as infrasound and ultrasound, existing at the perceptual boundaries. The group even claim there is a phantom sense that once allowed us to communicate with what exists on the edges of perception – what they term the third ear – which can connect to other times and spaces and to other forms of vibratory intelligence.

AUDINT is a research cell investigating how ultrasonic, sonic and infrasonic frequencies are used to demarcate territory in the soundscape and the ways in which their martial and civil deployments modulate psychological, physiological and architectural states. Re-formatted in 2008, AUDINT currently consists of Toby Heys and Steve Goodman. For Sound Development City the history of AUDiNT - since its formation by 3 members of the Ghost Army in 1945 -- will be presented in the form of a multi-media presentation. The live composition will patch together a mix of the whispered and the unsound into an audible journey that - links the underground groove of the Large Hadron Collider with the vaults of the Bank of Hell ; connects the Dead Record Network with the Phantom Hailer ; and traces the evolution of the Wandering Soul Tapes to the viral dynamics of the online spectreware named IREX^2

AUDiNT installation in new exhibition 'Platform: In the making'

AUDiNT (Toby Heys & Steve Goodman) began a research programme into the relationship between sonic warfare, abstract art and sound during their residency 'Unsound Systems' at Site Gallery (2010) which has since grown exponentially taking the artists around the world.
