just imagine this; you've been seeing this shadowy figure in the corner of your room. you chalked it up to just the dark playing tricks on your eyes at first, but when it started to appear in your room almost nightly you started to panic.
it looked too real for it to be just a shadow. no shadow could look so... human. especially not like that. you swore it would even move towards you sometimes (even if you were staring right at it), that was when you would shut your eyes and hide under your blankets. praying that whatever it was would go away.
you told this to your friend, expressing how terrified you were of sleeping alone at night. and he comforts you, but also teases you a little for being so scared of something that's most likely a shadow.
"it's there every single night though." you pout, not caring how that made you seem like a child. he sighed, patting your head. "sleep with a nightlight. would wittle baby wanna sleep with a nightlight?--"
you punch him in the stomach, making him wheeze. "okay asshole, i get it. it's all in my head." you sigh, as he let out pained coughs.
and even if your friend had said it in a condescending way, you did take his advice and ended up sleeping with a nightlight, placing it in the corner. it was the first night you had a comfortable sleep.
but after you started doing that, you realized that your room started to feel cleaner. things in your room would be moved and it still felt like someone was in your room. except it was somehow significantly worse.
whatever....thing was in your room didn't care that you knew. it was like it was taunting you, and it costed you your sanity.
it all came crashing down one night, when you had one of your horrible nights. you couldn't fall asleep at all, no matter how much you tossed and turned. you decided to just shut your eyes and hoped that over time you would eventually fall asleep.
suddenly you heard a whoosh of air, and you heard soft footsteps. your heart stopped beating for a second and even as you were bundled under your blanket you felt a sudden chill go down your entire body.
you squeezed your eyes shut, you knew someone was in your room. whoever it was thought you were asleep. clearly. you felt a gloved hand brush your face, almost caressing your cheek.
lovingly? but also, you wanted to cry so you didn't care about their intentions.
"sorry for being late tonight, I had something to deal with. that friend of yours, god I should've killed him so long ago but I didn't want you to be sad." he crooned, you felt the bed dip as he sat next to you.
he killed your friend. a murderer was sat, right next to you, petting you and cooing at you.
"ah." he suddenly stops. "you're awake, aren't you?"
