hi i’m crystal and i rarely present my authentic self on social media

especially on tumblr, which if i'm being honest, isn't my favorite thing

i'm literally just here for taylor swift

lucky for you, i've decided to switch it up

here are some facts about me

i have a cat named lulu 

she’s a narcissistic bitch, but i love her a lot

taylor swift has made me really happy since 2008

i've faithfully (and publicly) defended my 'swiftie' title, cried at every concert, collected an entire wardrobe of merchandise, read every interview, freaked out over every performance, loved every album, made life-long friendships

speaking of which, one of my best friends happens to be gay

his name is Phillip

although he's not a certified 'swiftie'

but i'm working on it

he's also the kindest, most loyal and genuine person i know

just like an overall quality human and friend

i love him more than most things 

“PRIDE” represents something different for everyone

for many white, straight women with gay male friends (such as myself), we get to dress in cute rainbow outfits and scream “YAS QUEEN” from our self-indulgent, imaginary podiums

pure intentions, lost in translation

we've made strides concerning LGBTQ rights the past decade

it's been pretty awesome

like the incredible triumph of legalization of same-sex marriage

but, despite our progress, LGBTQ remains taboo in 2019

the movement has stalled

unfortunately our current administration has made these basic rights more about foreign policy, rather than domestic concern

which, coupled with 'politically correct' complacency permits discrimination and bigotry to prevail

subtle, commonplace, hardly noticeable

terms like "gay” and "queer" make us uncomfortable

we avoid these words with family, out with friends, in church, at work

the good news is, our girl just dropped a song called 'You Need To Calm Down'

i felt emotions

the line, 'SHADE NEVER MADE ANYBODY LESS GAY' made me cry and simultaneously laugh hysterically by myself in my living room

the track implies an important question “AMERICA, WORLD: WHY ARE WE STILL HERE?”

breaking news: human rights are not, in fact, obsolete

simple, profound, necessary

an "anti-hate" assertion that examines our current state as 'the land of the free'

forcing us to consider whether or not we actually live our anthem

we listen to this music, we continue to fight

never been prouder to be a swiftie

really, really looking forward to the 'lover' era

i'm confident it'll be a bold, dynamic, honest, courageous magical musical masterpiece

bops. hitters. bangers.
