The other day I saw a guy insist both Sugimoto and Noda were completely straight because of Umeko/Noda’s wife, and that no one in GK could be gay beyond for a joke because “seinen is aimed at men” and I just thought that was so blindingly dumb and you would find it funny

but like. Golden Kamuy is literally gay. Man I agree with you that the people who write pages and pages of Ogata meta are the wrongest but I’m curious what you think of Ogata’s faintly positive interactions with Asirpa before he went off the shits on her?

Asirpa is a kid and an extremely likable one, so as much of an asshole Ogata is I think he liked her as much as it is possible for him to like anyone. the way you can honestly like a farm animal while being perfecly aware that at the end of the day you are gonna kill and eat it. the kind of affection that you know has a deadline. also she fed him brains which is the ultimate buttering up technique.

+ obviously post-Abashiri Ogata very much played up his relaionship w Asirpa  lying hrough his teeth consantly with he fakest Hinna in human history. he never hesitated to manipulate and use her for his own goals, even if he was fundamentally okay with her up till that certain point. 

One could argue that tha citatap was real at least, and it’s up do debate, but i see it as a “well i reasonably like her but i think this family play is stupid and wont last anyway so i wasnt willing to say it befire but now that it’ll end soon anyway why not indulge her” thing. the affection, or more like lack of explicit hate, probably as real as it gets with him but still a lie. which is true to the Hinna too tho that was more calculated less like an “eh what the hell” 

and of course the moment he associated Asirpa with the Yuusku kind of “pureness” and began to see her as a mirror to his own fundamental corruptness him decenly liking Asirpa was down the drain.

Obviously we all agree Sugishira is just Canon and Sugio is peak The Inherent Eroticism Of Wanting To Kill Eachother, but what are your thoughts on Hijio because I see you bookmarked the fic that awakened That in me. Also if you’re open to other ships, Wear No Halo has a marvelously done Ogata in a ship that I wouldn’t have expected to work this well.

HijiO is fine!! like..if he fic is good the fic is good or at least Has A Concept i dont care what the pairing is, I can be convinced of literally anything

and i’ll check out out! Tsukishima/Ogata seems like a sufficiently fucked up ship if its well written so I Am Looking

If you haven’t already read Dungeon Meshi you’d probably like it. While you’re waiting for more Golden Kamuy.

i’ll keep that in mind but make no mistake i plan to wring out all the feelios i possibly can out of Golden Kamuy i’m staying on this ride for now
