Let’s see who can split a room the most evenly. Mod uses she/her pronouns Some anon called me “mx. split” and it had a ring to it, so you can call me split, mod, or whatever you want really Current Stage: Round 2 voting has begun!
*Submissions are closed, here is where you can find the lists of all characters who made it in*
I now have a ko-fi
I love the idea of polls for characters that wouldn’t win otherwise because they’re too obscure, so I want to know what character people have the most strong opinions about, specifically who can split a room between negative or positive opinions the best.
For example: i haven’t heavily interacted with fandom since steven universe days so I’ll use Rose Quartz as an example. People either think she’s a soft uwu mom victim of the diamonds or an evil irredeemable space despot. I have never met a steven universe fan with a neutral opinion about her.
So that’s how your blorbo can win this poll: by being divisive. They don’t have to be popular or from a popular media, they just need the people who know them to have a strong opinion about them. In this poll, the character with the MOST EVEN balance of votes wins. I’ll post an example poll to show what I mean, but basically you’re encouraged to submit a blorbo if you love them or hate them! Either one helps them in this poll!
Here is where you can find the list of all characters with 2 or more submissions who made it in! Those with one submission who made it in will be added to this list in phases so I can check them.
Form has been removed from under the cut due to being closed but the rules remain up for reference:
- fictional characters only, no real people or characters based on real people, such as a minecraft youtuber’s self-named oc, or fictionalized versions of historical figures (ie no hamilton characters, but clone high or fate is fine)
- as stated above, only submit each character once, although you can submit as many DIFFERENT characters as you want. Sending this post to friends who hate your fave or vice versa is also fair game, as long as they only submit their true opinions!
- Although to add to the hopeful anti-bullying safeguard, and to publicly answer a question I was asked privately, you can also submit characters who are ocs from smaller or fan works, but only if you get explicit permission from the creator. I don’t want to make any smaller creators feel uncomfortable about their character being widely hated even if they are also widely loved
- you can love or hate the character for any reason as long as you have strong feelings about them! They’ll have a better chance of making it in and winning if they are a controversial character, but you don’t necessarily have to submit only characters you know are controversial. I’m also allowing particularly good reasoning/propaganda to sway me, although I’m planning to probably include 512 characters so that as many as possible can get in!

Not sure if you're still taking people or if this guy has already shown up here, but I'd like to pitch Ludinus Da'leth from Critical Role Campaign 3.
RECENCY EXPLANATION: Campaign 3 ended earlier this year, and although he was the villain, the heroes' choices and the eventual ending of the show were somewhat in line with his philosophy and he kinda got off scott free.
WHY PEOPLE LIKE HIM: His stated motivation was to bring down the gods, he occasionally had some points (some of the gods are assholes, and he had lived through the apocalyptic god war that happened a few centuries ago) and was generally affable. Also, the critical role fandom is full of people with religious trauma who dislike long-held power structures.
WHY PEOPLE DISLIKE HIM: His plan was to unleash a god-eating eldritch abomination on the world by becoming its vessel, which a lot of people read more as him jockying for personal power than acting out of an altruistic motive. People also consider him a hypocrite as one of his strongest arguments against the gods (they destroyed a city for making a different god-killing weapon) is something he did himself (he unleashed something during his research, destroying a city and tainting the forest around it for centuries).
Darn it it is too late but I love CR (but I once again can’t read this because I’m not caught up 🫣)….. maybe I’ll use poll makers privilege and kick out the lowest guy in the vote-in poll for him
Which of these characters are the most deserving of joining the tournament?
Submissions have petered out so let’s vote in the top six here to join our fight!! Remember that they should be DIVISIVE, there should be some fans that love them and some that hate them. Not just villains that people like, nor characters whose actions are morally dubious/controversial, those guys probably won’t do well in the tournament so I suggest voting for the ones you think fit best. Or just vote for who you like the best I guess, idk I’m not your mom.
You still need submissions? I'd like to submit the newly controversial Toriel Deltarune.
FUCK I STILL NEED TO PLAY CHAPTERS 3 AND 4 I really said “send me characters that have become divisive within the last year” and then got surprised pikachu face when I got spoilers for all the media I haven’t been watching over the past year
If you're still taking submissions, I'd like to offer Fuuta Kajiyama from Milgram! For context, Milgram is an online series about 10 people who have all caused the death of a human being either directly or indirectly. It's also interactive and the audience gets to vote whether each character can be forgiven for what they did or not, so fans already have strong opinions, and I feel like pretty much every character is divisive in some way.
Fuuta however, is the one I've seen the most range of opinions on so far? He cyberbullied and doxxed a middle schooler into suicide over a hat. He spends a good chunk of his screentime denying the fact that he could in any way be blamed for said death. He joined a cult about it that resulted in the death of two separate main characters. He first portrays himself as a hero of justice, then an unfortunate victim, and finally an unsympathetic villain.
Does this mean he actually realised what he did was shitty? Has he learned anything? Would he genuinely like to make amends for what he did or is he just offering up empty excuses? No one can really agree.
If you're dying (pun intended) to take another suggestion, I want to add my blorbo of all time, Sunako Kirishiki, from the anime Shiki. Evidence she's controversial is... easy to come by.
Also in these posts is lots and lots and lots of discourse on the two other big, controversial characters: Seishin Muroi and Toshio Ozaki. Honestly, everything related to Shiki is one big controversial clusterfuck, and you could even posit "the villagers" and "the shiki" as controversial character-like entities.
Propaganda with SOURCES CITED. I love to see it
Though it looks like it’s an older show. Has it had a resurgence lately or otherwise become newly divisive?
Controversial Blorbo Suggestion: Calypso from Epic The Musical. Her solo song came out around last Halloween so it hasn't been a year yet. She's probably the most divisive thing in the Epic fandom. To some people, she's a tragic victim who can't be held accountable for her actions because she's literally been alone on an island her entire life and had no opportunity to learn that what she's doing is wrong, and then she loses the love of her life because of the same people who stranded her. To others, she's a rapist and manipulator who refused to take no for an answer from the guy she kept prisoner for 7 years and only let him go because the gods forced her to
Dang Epic is another thing I still haven’t gotten around to but really want to. Anyway from what you describe Calypso sounds very divisive which means she would likely be great here. What do you guys think? Is she loved and hated by different, committed groups of people?
if you dont wanna add jimmy mouthwashing, curly honestly is even worse. people love him but he enabled jimmy in everything then had to just sit there and watch as jimmy ruined everything even worse. all because he wouldnt just put his foot down cuz jimmys his bestest friend. i think everyone agrees jimmys awful but curlys more up in the air depending on who u talk to in the fandom even tho he absolutely caused the domino effect by not just. doing the bare minimum of supporting anya
Honestly the amount of people on Jimmy’s post already starting discourse makes me think he might be perfect for this (though he’s seeming a lot more plain old hated than divisive? Like is there anyone actually out there who would vote love on this guy? I haven’t seen any come here yet at least). I’m also not opposed to two characters from the same franchise joining, after all we’ve got two Digital Circuses
Amaria Fiore from Pokemon Rebon! List of reasons why she's controversial WITH SPOILERS:
REASONS AGAINST:
She tries to drown you
She attempted suicide after breaking up with her girlfriend, who then instantly leapt after her (none of them died)
Got amnesia and forgot she broke up with her girlfriend (all routes end in divorce)
REASONS FOR:
She deserved to kill you, god forbid girls have fun
For real she kind of realized that she should probably work on herself if she's drowning people and she did
Also you were in her house and she asked you to leave when she drowned you
Working on herself made her realize that maybe she should break up with her girlfriend since her girlfriend is not in love with her
She does help a lot in the local evil team trying to commit mass murder. She's really good at it, actually
She’s already in this tournament, so definitely not a new character and definitely not one that will be added (she can’t compete twice at the same time lol), but this is good propaganda for her (I am indeed still accepting existing character propaganda btw)
so sorry what these two are going to do for this poll's discourse but
since you were last accepting submissions, 911 fandom has exploded into a ship war with:
new(ish) character as of 2024: Tommy Kinard, accused of racism, being patronizing to the guy he dates. the same guy that many fans have been shipping forever with:
existing character Eddie Diaz, newly controversial as of May 2025. accused of future intimate partner violence for grabbing his friend and putting a finger in his face during an argument, also being mean to that friend
These are great suggestions because I have personal vendettas against 911 not because I’ve ever seen it but because I can’t go into any Peacemaker tags without seeing these guys instead for some reason (? guys help me out on the why of that one. Just lots of fandom overlap I assume?)
But from what I’ve seen these guys seem like toxic yaoi which tends to be perfectly divisive in fandom. Is that a correct take? What do you guys think, should one and/or both of these guys join the fray?
She's funny, she makes anti us political commentary (the literal personification of war is in love with the us because they remade the atomic bomb from scratch) but she also assaulted Denji. 💀 Hum.
We love political commentary here at Controversial Blorbos, but is she divisive enough for the bracket? I don’t know her, so I’d love to hear people’s takes!
I don't even go here and every bit of discourse I've heard about her has been against my will, but, for the newbie bracket, Caitlyn Kiramman Arcane. Either the police brutality, discrimination and attacking her lesbian love interest is completely okay and she's redeemed and great sapphic rep or she's an annoying/unbearable character who is a prejudiced horrific abuser and should have never gotten a good ending
Oh this one is GOOD. And it reminded me I still need to watch season 2 of Arcane (another thing I haven’t done in this year and a half for literally no reason despite wanting to?)
also submitting miquella from elden ring because mohg got done dirty. turns out he did nothing wrong and miquella brainwashed him so he could go to a secret land to become god and then after the tarnished kills mohg miquella uses his body to resurrect radhan into his corpse to be his king consort. btw radhan and mohg are both miquellas half brothers. LMAO. a lot of ppl hate miq too because it can be viewed as him abandoning his twin sister when he left for the land of shadow (but im in the camp that he left to create a world she could be accepted in). all around great character. tore his body apart and abandoned his fear and love including his other half so he wouldnt have any doubts abt becoming god. then we kill him ♡ yay ♡
This guy sounds divisive, which is great. I hope he has many die hard lovers and haters, or that the other guy (mohg?) has as many if not more
nice to see you! hope everything's been going well :)
Everything has been pretty cool! As a little life update (since I have been gone for a while), I moved to a place I love a lot and have made cool friends here :) Nothing else particularly special, but just wanted to assure you I did not leave for bad reasons (outside of my bad and dysfunctional brain making the first missed poll spiral into a years worth of them lying forgotten)
i would like to submit jimmy mouthwashing to the chopping block. he sucks so bad, like the worst he possibly can but a lot of people in the fandom love him cuz hes a fun chew toy. he crashed a whole ship and got 3 people killed and 1 horribly maimed cuz he didnt wanna pay for a kid he forced on the crew nurse. terrible guy all around 10/10
I forgot about Mouthwashing, I’ve heard a lot about this one but haven’t gotten into it yet myself. What do you guys think, is this guy terrible and/or (preferably and) great enough to be here?
A lot has changed since I left, media has come and gone, I bet some of these blorbos aren’t even controversial anymore
So for the rest of round 2, some of round 1’s biggest sweepers will now belatedly earn a bye so that eight ALL NEW competitors can join in the fun
Because I don’t have my finger on the pulse of every fandom (or even most of them), I would like YOU, yes you, to suggest characters who are either 1. new to this world or 2. newly controversial to be 6 of the newbies. 6, because our new eight begins with…
Jax and Ragatha, who it seems like not a single person can be normal about. How do YOU feel? Does Ragatha’s toxic positivity make her a gaslighting abuser or traumatized and well-meaning? Does Jax’s trauma mean it’s totally okay the he bullies people or is he a literally irredeemable monster? If your take is nuanced or anywhere between these two extreme poles you better get the fuck outta here, we’re taking off our media literacy hats and celebrating No Nuance November a week early here at Wish.com Jackbox
So what are ya waiting for? Send your suggestions to my inbox along with propaganda for why they should join the fray, and one week from today (or whenever I feel like it) I’ll choose the top 6 suggested characters and round 2 will start right where it left off!! Have fun!!!!
