It's a bit of a spoiler but I'll try to respond vaguely.
Tomás: There is mutual fear of getting close to one another here so while you might need a couple lightyears to get close to him, he is more than understanding of taking his time to get close to you despite your phobia.
Aurelio: Gets why you might have your fear but wants to do his best to make you see he will never be a threat to you. Acts silly and does his best to appear non-threatening in anyway he can imagine.
Elio: Doesn't find your fear logical and only when you explain your trauma can he learn to be sympathetic and starts trying to do what he can to appear non-threatening to you.
