the long story short is that they snuck out of the abyss with their babysitter/friend/non-vessel-sibling way back when the kingdom was still alive and got picked up by the sanctum pair eating out the garbage in the back of the city of tears
the long story long is that spite is not very smart. theyre not very hollow by pk’s standards but god do they not have many braincells rattling around in there. they got lost while still inside of the abyss. just a big empty hole full of corpses. found their way into the lighthouse instead and crawled around in the walls and pipes for god knows how long. eventually got found by a bug on staff and a long history of being a clingy little shit begins
over time shit happens, all the bugs in the lighthouse get sick, spite gets exposed and thrown off the top of the building, and they and their friend just get the fuck outta dodge. really they got nowhere to go though so they end up just hiding out in the back of the city getting rained on and eating out of bins. and then they get picked up by the sanctum pair
