Went to the nearby shopping mall to have dinner and to do some grocery shopping. Couldn’t resist going over to Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh (吉祥红龟粿) popup stall to check out their range of colourful Ang Ku Kuehs (红龟粿). We picked one each of Peanut (花生), Salted Bean (咸豆沙), Coconut (椰子), Corn (玉米), Yam (芋头) and Sweet Bean (甜豆沙) ang ku kuehs. Both the peanut and sweet bean comes in red glutinous rice skin and to differentiate between them, look at the banana leaf. The peanut one has a rectangle shape leaf while the sweet bean has four of its corners trimmed off.

Chahar Mongol headdress, Inner Mongolia, late 19th century

Silver, coral, turquoise, and other semi-precious stones.

This woman’s headdress (Mongolian: djasal) comes from one of the eight banners of Chakhar (Chahar) in central Inner Mongolia. The frame is a decorated silk-covered cloth bonnet featuring a headband with a continuous row of silver ornaments, which alternate between openwork filigree tied with turquoise beads and rosettes set with coral. Above the frame a large scalloped silver headpiece decorated with filigree is set with three large coral pieces. A net and fringe of coral, turquoise, and silver beads hangs over the forehead of the wearer. Long strings of coral and turquoise beads, which hang from ornaments in the shape of stylized butterflies, frame the face of the wearer. These long strands end in auspicious images, including silver bats holding peaches which are in turn carved from lozenge-shaped red carnelian, imagery that means in Chinese “may you possess both blessings and longevity” (福壽雙全). From the wings of the bats hang a strand of tiny silver beads with an endless knot and a pair of bell-shaped finials. A long pair of heavy ear-ornaments (süike) and a pair of silk-covered lapels decorated with large coral beads complete the presentation.' X

“The results of her training are auspicious,” Ghost says. “And her recovery from her traumatic experience,” Kate adds. “Good,” Price says. “I’m in no hurry to add her to Task Force 141, but it’s good to hear she’s making progress.” “She still needs to build strength and go through basic training,” Ghost adds. “She might be ready by summer.” Kate and Price agree, but all three agree not to rush Layla.

The three find Layla in the common room with Gaz and Soap. Layla rests her head on Soap’s lap. “Going to rest now?” Price teases. “Oh, shut up,” Layla retorts. The room is quiet enough to hear Layla’s stomach rumble. “I know, I’ll make you something savory for dinner,” Soap decides. “A classic chicken noodle soup.” “No, stay,” Layla whines. Soap gets up and leaves the room. Layla says nothing about how her stomach feels like it’s doing flip-flops.

The smell coming from the bowl of soup in front of her an hour later doesn’t help the feeling. Layla was hoping her stomach would have stopped making her feel sick by now. Layla worries about eating, but doesn’t want to insult Soap’s cooking. She tries to eat, which turns out to be a terrible choice. Soap watches as Layla rushes out of the mess hall. He runs after her. Soap stops Layla, unaware of his bad timing, as Layla can’t avoid throwing up. “I’m sorry,” Layla cries. “It’s ok,” Soap assures her as he hugs her. Soap worries about how sick Layla still is, throwing up from the smell of food. “Come on, let’s get you cleaned up.” He takes Layla to her room to shower.
