I appreciate this perspective as here in Australia, our seasons are just not the same. I'm up in Queensland, and I would say that our seasons are nowhere near as distinct as the classic spring, summer, autumn, and winter that you get in the Northern Hemisphere. I'm currently working on making a seasonal calendar by conferring with Gubbi Gubbi elders about traditional song lines that dictate the changing seasons. Here is a seasonal calendar that the The Wakka Wakka, Jarowair and Barrumgum tribes follow who are the traditional owners of the Bunya Mountains.
Many witches follow an inverted wheel of the year to 'match our seasons' but neither the traditions nor the actual seasons match and it just feels wrong... like sure the solstices (longest and shortest days of the year) can be celebrated but... our celebrations should match up with our regional seasons.

a bit about me...
I'm from the East Coast of Australia, and call Darkinung Country home. I was born in the last few years of the last millenium. I identify as simply queer; my gender and sexuality are a spectrum that shifts with time, like the rest of me. I change and grow and learn. I use they/she/them pronouns, and sometimes turn into a gremlin.
I love whimsy and procratination & find joy in creation, art, tending my garden, procuring trinkets and doo-dads, and frollicking at the beach.
My happy place is in the ocean – but I also find peace in the bush. Where you can feel the heartbeat of the land and hear spirits in rustle in the trees, unmuffled by the noise of society that can be quite distracting.
I've been struggling with chronic (ch)illness for about 5 years now. I have endometriosis, and chronic pain that is being investigated as fibromyalgia. This has affected my life massively and is quite influential to how I practice my craft (or don't practice my craft at times).

I found myself back here on Tumblr recently during an attempt to be more intentional in the way I consume social media. I had a wonderful idea to try blog about stuff as I try and rebuild consistency in my personal practice. 🌺
I hope to document and share from time to time what I've been learning in my independant study of plants and their medicinal properties, how this influences my craft, aswell as little bits and pieces about my gardening.

Being a witch in Australia can sometimes feel a little isolating as far as social media goes. Alot of online witchcraft creators and their content originate from the perspective of the Northern Hemisphere.
About 85% of our native flora and fauna are endemic to Australia, meaning they're found nowhere else on earth. Its only natural that our practices as witches reflect our land and seasons.
I think it could be nice to make an online space that feels familiar to those who can relate to this or want to know more about developing associations and relationships with native plant allies.
As a non-indigenous person who calls this place home, I think it is important that we practice our craft in a way that is culturally informed and respectful.
For more than 65,000 years this country has been home to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Their soveriegnty and guardianship of this land was never ceded.
This country; it's people and the land alike have been deeply wounded by its its very recent colonial history. First Nation's cannot be expected to heal from these crimes. Nor can the land while we uphold the institutions that were built on racism and injustice, and continue to maintain it to this day.
Change is needed. Be the change.
a bit about my practice...
My practice is quite eclectic and mostly secular, with spirituality being the focus as opposed to religion.
Rooted in animism and veneration of the earth; I like to live in step with the changing seasons and the natural places of my home.
I've been influenced by a rather eclectic mish-mash of modern practices; green magic, with a dash of folk-magic and faerie faith from my childhood, and a sprinkle of solar/cosmic/elemental zest. I've been known to dabble in tarot and have taken an interest in witches runes recently.
While I do believe in Spirits and Divine Energy, historically my practice has remained quite secular from my belief in the Gods. My concept of the divine is complicated, and my own, and forever changing as I learn.
Its kinda new for me, talking so openly about my spirituality. Expect this little introduction passage to change a little as this space grows with me. My DMs are open for those who want to connect.
Heat milk on stove, put teabag in and steep for a few minutes.
Biscuit:
•2 1/2 cups flour
•1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
•1 tsp salt
•1/4 cup sugar
•1/2 cup of chilled butter
•1/4 cup of honey
•3/4 cup Chamomile milk
Mix dry ingredients and add chilled butter, blend butter into the dry ingredients with hands. Mix honey and chamomile milk together and add to dry ingredients. Combine together. Kneed and fold 5 or 6 times but don't over do it.

Hello all! I’ve been working hard on a new 18+ discord server!
