For @sauvechouris who asked for ChengXian + heatwave. I couldn't help myself xD
Send me a ship + an atmosphere
Jiang Cheng is lying in his bed, arms and legs spread out around him wearing only his lighter and shorter cotton underpants. He’s sweating profusely, perspiration beading on his forehead and upper lip, his skin glistening in the soft light of the moon filtering through his open window.
He’s been drifting in and out of consciousness, lost in the lymbs between sleep and wakefulness since he went to bed a few hours ago. The heat is too unbearable to properly sleep. Heavy and moist, like some invisible mass pressing against him from all sides, covering every inch of his skin, sinking into his lungs and suffocating him.
He squirms a little, shifting to change position and find a fresher spot on his sheets, but his body protests the movement, feeling weighted down and unable to move, his still foggy mind not helping in the slightest. He reflexively draws strength from his core, not even thinking about it before shifting again with wave of qi, turning on his side at the edge of his bed.
A sudden crash and a yelp startles him fully awake, his eyes trying to chase away the haze over them to find the source of the noise. His gaze snaps to the floor, right in front of him by the side of his bed when a groan reaches his ear.
Wei WuXian lays there, sprawled on his side completely naked, holding the back of his skull with both hands, pain twisting his features. Grey eyes find his in the low light of the night, both young men frozen for an instant as their groggy mind catch up with the situation before they both burst out laughing simultaneously.
Jiang cheng holds onto his stomach, his muscles hurting from laughing so hard, unable to stop at the ridiculous of the situation, looking down through the veil of tears as Wei WuXian slowly gets up on his knees. His hands reach out to slip around his waist, encouraging him to move closer to the edge of his mattress as Jiang Cheng spreads his legs reflexively to allow him to slide in between.
Smiling lips press softly against his own, the both of them still chuckling as they kiss tenderly. Wei WuXian draws back a little, cradling his cheek with his hand as his thumb wipe away the happy tears that leaked from Jiang Cheng’s eyes.
“Good morning to you too.” He whispers, even though it’s still too early to be considered morning, even though they both know Wei WuXian always sleeps too late to even see said mornings. But Jiang Cheng is too busy feeling content and pressing forward in his embrace to kiss him again to say anything about it.
