So i know people are still waiting on the next update (which is in progress, i swear) I'm curious if anyone would be interested in stuff like RO profiles or more world lore. Iii actually do have some things in the works for both but ive been debating the merits of holding it all back to dump on y'all at once, or meting it out

Holy crap lmfaoo i honestly thought this would be the last one anyone would get! And because of that, yes, you're so close i might as well.

#4 is Merlin, a limited series from 1998 (not to be confused with the BBC production from 2008.)

It is... terrible. Ok, guys, it's terrible. Please don't see this as a recommendation unless you're into 90s trash fantasy, then by all means please watch track it down. Just expect a lot of heavy handed Christian hot take propaganda about how they conquered Europe's indigenous populations and people just naturally chose to convert. Also, really really bad special effects and "well that was a choice" performances.

Anyway i don't mean to dunk on this but i started rewatching it for the first time in twenty years after posting this meme... and yikes. Y'all there was SO MUCH i forgot that hits way different in '21 than it did when this came out (and i was like...12?)

But yeah, ironically it's one of the Choice elements that's been my influence for ACoW. Specifically im looking at Queen Mab and Frik, and the whole unearthly weirdness of fae magic. Even if Miranda Richardson was channeling Eartha Kitt by way of acid trip for the whole performance.

I mean it’s also a bit Found Family (so are a lot of things on this list b/c who doesn’t love Found Family, though BTVS isn’t as big on that trope as the others I guess) but my major vibe here is the whole “Band of teens who join together to protect their town from supernatural forces” thing. There’s no real buffy/ChosenOne equivalent, here, but I kind of feel like that’s a good thing.

That is definitely a spoiler, though a mild one so. There you go. (i am desperately trying to rework the book one pitch so this is more obvious, anyway.)
