I'm shaking Jack, Lyris, & Co. in my teeth rn and having the time of my life.
Someone: "They can't handle complex female characters."
Me, holding Lyris: I fear we may be cooked.
Lyris: [wakes up in Jack's grandfather's cabin]
Alex: [cleaning]
Roman: [cooking]
Everos: [mending an old cast net]
Jack: [nowhere to be found]
Lyris: ooooooo something's off here. They're *way* too content.
Everos: I'll place Jack in this peaceful looking, little room off to the side so he can rest.
Jack: [wakes up in his Grandfather's cabin *in the room his Grandfather reserved just for him*]
Jack: Something fucky is going on here.
"How will I make this transition feel less abrupt?"
The devil on my shoulder: Let Jack have a grief dream where he misses fishing with his grandfather.
"Hmm... that'll do."
This is a reminder for those who handmake Christmas presents that now is not too early to start. It may in fact be a good time to start if you have a lot to make/your craft takes a long time. You should maybe start it now, whether that's brainstorming or actually doing the crafts!
Translating this into tumblr's preferred public service announcement format for this kind of alert:
Or this preferred Tumblr announcement system:
I don't think every character ever needs to be shipped with someone maybe they just need to be shipped in some sort of box alone to a location
I made a mistake-!
So. To clarify. I'm trans and bisexual. My sister likes to call me her "gay baby brother." All cool. All chill. Except that she forgot who raised me--our blunt as a board, disabled, ag teacher & generational farmer father alongside my wild ass self in the middle of cornfield, gravel dust, treeline nowhere isolation-ville.
When I wasn't alone and Mama wasn't home, I was being bullied or forgotten by the wayside by none other than my two older siblings! Go figure.
Is it really any wonder I grew up to both run from crowds and have "a presence about me" or "take over a room?" Or whatever. People say that, but like. Idk. People listen when I speak and that's what matters. I don’t really care what is true vs what you believe about me. A thousand versions in every mind for a single person, as it were.
My sister is very stylish. My version of dressing up is putting on clean work pants and a button down. So when she dragged me into a resale shop today, I was just annoyed and wanted to leave. Everything was bad Millennial fashion. Like, not even the cute shit. I had enough in the first 5 minutes.
I wasn't going to have her leaving boasting about ugly, shitty, new-to-her clothes. Oh no. She's better than that and I love her too much.
So what did I do? What any good, younger gay brother would do. I was honest. I was mean.
Her first dress? Horrid. It wasn't the size it was the cut. "You look like you're wearing concert black... and you rushed it."
Next item. Ugly dress. Frumpy animal print thing. 2005 called, they're looking for an ug-nomaly and it's this dress. "You look like Disney Channel threw up on you." She bought it anyway. One failure.
Next item. Romper. I'm optimistic. Rompers are cute. They're kinda in. Almost out of style, but not quite yet. She steps out. I'm horror-striken. "No. You look like you aren't wearing anything and not in a good way." There wasn't enough rom to the per. I.e.: the top was a spaghetti strap and she was one "romp" way from a felony.
Next item. Dress. Orange. Tiny flower pattern. Ugly fabric, awful cut. On the rack I said she'd look like a pumpkin. I was wrong. It was worse. She says, 'I feel like it gives Woodstock.' "You look like a 1960's... carpet." Modified her, but she put it back. Another win for team save the sister from shame.
Last item. A yellow dress. In the fitting room, I hear her say 'I have to take my bra off.' I WARN her. "If you have to take the bra off, it will not work." She steps out anyway. She doesn't make it two feet. "No. Take it off. You have four tits and two are in your armpits." Success. She's saved from another ugly, mass market, shitty cut dress.
All and all, I think I did well. I was looking out for her. She was both proud and agast. She said she's never taking me shopping again. She probably shouldn't... but then again, maybe she should never go without me.
But the mistake? Doing it the way I did. It was funny. She posted about me on Threads and she frequently goes viral. Help.
It's called the Global Justice Report, it is here. This is an actionable plan which can be sent to legislators and demanded of political parties. We could save the world within our lifetimes.
It has always been possible. It is still possible.
Collins is gone.
Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.
Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.
All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.
After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.
It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of years—far longer than settlers have been in Canada—and made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotēn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.
And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racism—like Kashechewan—because it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.
The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.
Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.
ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.
Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.
*Before sending money, verify that the appeal appears on an official First Nation, Tribal Council or registered charity channel.
If you can't offer financial support, please consider donating items of need. Moontime Connections is currently accepting drop-off donations. If you live in the Thunder Bay area, Namaygoosisagagun Health Office is also taking in donations! They can also bemailed to Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre at 555 West Arthur Street, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5P8.
items needed are: food, diapers, medical masks, men’s and women’s joggers (all sizes), children’s clothing (newborn to size 14), children’s shoes, summer clothing, men’s clothing, toiletries (lotion, Vaseline, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc.), strollers, adult depends-all sizes, dog & cat food

I love you rusty spider wasp even though I cant get a good picture of you
Can I get a round of applause for our native pollinators like this funky little dude!?!?
Not aggressive? Check! Pollinator? Double check! Is a predator of a predator (spiders) and controls their population thereby keeping the number of predators to a reasonable level and conserving its native habitat? Triple check!
That's a funky, little dude alright!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
There's so many evil people who are running the country but immigrants are the main problem I guess
My Uncle Tino, who was born and raised in this country and simply happens to be Latino & Hispanic, is scared to leave the farm for fear of I.C.E., but "it's not about race." The man hand raises orphaned squirrels; has built supports around my great grandparents'(now both deceased) cherry tree and single-handedly extended its lifespan by at least 2 years; and is genuinely just such a wonderful man and husband for my aunt. According to I.C.E, we should be scared of him. I.C.E melts in this house.
