"Now begins the moments of letting go..." I thought that to myself as I looked at this view. This kid sees a great big world and will soon want to explore all the possibilities in it. But I see the kid. I breathe deep, swallow emotion, feel pride swell, and hope the best for him and his brothers in all things. I realize that time is moving, giving and taking in equal measure. And I remember that for every moment like this, when the kid sees the world... the parent is always standing behind seeing THEM. Isn't that what God does? His view is personal. It's not focused on the canyons beyond. His eyes are laser-focused on the kid. The love. The "I'd do anything for you" moments of grace. And if we don't see Him, it doesn't mean He's not there; we could see how close He's been all along if we'd only turn around. I love being a parent. It's the best, most humbling, toughest, heart-deep and soul-searching journey there is. But the lesson here is that it's not about letting go of our kids... it's about letting go of ourselves, and letting God take control of the void. There's a beautiful space between us in this photo, me and my-heart-walking. It's the space between my control, my letting go, and his letting God. What a beautiful thing to stand back and witness -- the Creator claiming another heart, and the kid-explorer discovering what it feels like to be known. #lettinggo #parenting #inspiredview #authoradventures #authorsofinstagram #wheretheheartis #wearenotorphans #weareknown
