An excerpt from a short story I'm writing for an English project. I hope you all find someone who loves you enough to peel your oranges, be it a sibling, a parent, a friend, or a partner <3

He nodded at me as he fiddled with the freshly-plucked orange in his palms, washing it in a bowl of water before prying off the skin. I leaned back on my palms, letting the sunlight hit my face; it hit him a little better, honestly. It's been a while since we last came to the forest, with school and all. He handed me the peeled orange before rummaging through his basket for more. I took out a slice and dipped it in sugar, it melted in the summer heat but still tasted good. "I hope you find someone who loves you a lot," he suddenly said, placing the fruits on his handkerchief. "Enough to peel my oranges?" He smiled softly, "Yeah, enough to peel your oranges." I held my hand out, gesturing for him to give me one of his. I peeled it over a cup to catch the juice before handing it back to him.

Researching British slang and cadence is like learning a whole new language. It's even worse for Scottish slang. I might just gave to ask my readers to pretend Simon sounds British. I never really did any research for his accent before this fic.
