And I like how uninhibited you are in conversation, you are really talkative and laugh a lot and in general you just make social interaction fun.

What I like about them

EVERYTHING but to be more specific I luff how he’s super quick to get enraged but secretly loves everyone and worries about everyone constantly. I love his way with words. I love that he is insecure and needy and full of self-hate and doesn’t get along with himself. I love how much he likes romance novels and obsesses over quadrants. I love that he’s an immature li’l shit but actually makes for a good leader. 

What I dislike about them

I mean, the shit he pulled with trying to schedule Terezi’s love life without her consent wasn’t cool. He can be very controlling and ultimately I think it’s a good thing that him and Terezi didn’t work out. 

Favourite moment

KARKAT: EVERYBODY OUT OF THE GODDAMN WAY. KARKAT: I GOT A LAB FULL OF HUMANS, A MOUTH FULL OF YELLING, AND A TORTURED PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE FULL OF TOTALLY HYSTERICAL EMOTIONS AND UNAIRED GRIEVANCES AT PRACTICALLY EVERYBODY.

I... am not sure I have one? Even when this guy does something terrible or stupid I fucking love it. Oh, I guess when he was mean to Jade, before he apologized.

An interesting AU for this character

I would love to see Karkat as a disgruntled office worker (ok that’s me just blatantly projecting but I still think it would be funny) or a detective. 

A crossover

Hmm. I find Karkat kind of difficult to cross over into things because his brand of yelling really works best in Homestuck and it’s kind of difficult to imagine characters outside that universe reacting to it. But okay, I think he and Stiles would get along and that would be really adorable to see.

DAVEKAT. I have rambled so much about this ship but baasically it’s perfect, everything I want in a ship forever amen.

An assortment of headcanons!

Headcanons are always difficult for me to articulate, but okay. Karkat is definitely the DM for their group D&D session on the meteor, and he and Vriska constantly get into fights because she criticizes all his choices. He also fills his time with reading romance novels aloud to Dave and sometimes Rose and Kanaya. Ummm, I’m not sure two headcanons counts as an assortment, but I’m going with this.

for the meme: top five bands

Oh man, this is difficult. Only five? alright alright alright.

1. Brand New. My forever band tbh. I am an endless sucker for Jesse Lacey’s stupid face. They write really depressing songs about hating yourself and failing at everything and the existential questions that death brings up and that is my jam, man. The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me is probably my favorite album of anything, ever. I have a lot of favorite songs but Degausser probably takes the cake. 

2. The Mountain Goats. I remember the first TMG song I ever heard was “Pigs That Ran Straightaway To The Waterfront” back in… probably 2005? Because robokittens was talking about how it would make a great Ryan Atwood vid. John Darnielle has been one of my top tier faves ever since. Funny but self-hatred is another major theme here. Choosing a favorite album is really fucking difficult but I think it’s got to be The Sunset Tree and my favorite song is Hast Thou Considered The Tetrapod.

3. The National. Another band that writes sad-sack songs about hating yourself, downward spirals, etc etc. I just really like depressing music I guess? I love that their lyrics don’t always make sense, but the emotional logic is always so clear. Picking a favorite album is really tough because I love Boxer, High Violet and Trouble Will Find Me all so muuuuuch, but I think it’s got to be Boxer. Favorite song is Fake Empire, I used to just put this song on repeat and listen to it for hours on end. 

4. Passion Pit. For a change, this band I love because they write really uplifting songs about hope and happiness. I love a lot of bands that do this sort of huge-sounding electropop style, but they are my favorite because their songs are just so full of unfiltered joy. I don’t tend to talk about my spirituality much, here or elsewhere, but their music has a very spiritual tone to me. I listen to it and I just feel connected to everything. My favorite album is Manners and my favorite song is Moth’s Wings (incidentally, this song is where I got the title to the Zuko/Aang fic I wrote for Shipswap). 

5. Fall Out Boy. Lmao I wrestled with whether or not to list this here since I already have one bandom band on the list, but FOB fucking changed my life, so. I think I love FOB so much because they combine really upbeat, poppy music with songs about fucking up your life and failing at love, and that combination is really one of my favorite things in music. Their sound has changed a lot over the years but Pete Wentz still writes lyrics that fucking gut me. I’m seeing them this summer for the first time since 2008 and I could not be more pumped.  My favorite album is From Under The Cork Tree and my favorite song is 7 Minutes In Heaven (Atavan Halen).
