In Fae au, how are Nifs dealing with that cursed storm with the Voice in the Wind? By which I mean, how many have disappeared never to be seen again and how spooked the rest are?
*cackles*
The first year they have to deal with the Voice in the Wind, no one who wasn't there believes the survivors. But something did happen. Because nearly half the Niffs on the islands have vanished into the storm without a trace.
"Mass desertion," the upper crust whispers behind closed doors.
They order people to go looking for the 'deserters' and of course they find nothing. Not even one tiny hint.
The next year it happens again. And the one after that.
By now even the 'rational' upper crust knows Something is going on. People are scared shitless to be stationed on Galahd, especially during autumn. Thing is. Even the MTs vanish during those storms. (They are barely human enough to hear the voice, but they do hear it, and it's magic is enough to break the programming. It makes them barely rational enough to want to join the voice of their own free will. Because, well... becoming an MT is not something anyone would ever agree to.)
After year four the leadership on the islands wants to pull back the staff during autumn, but Aldercapt won't let them. So the people have to stay and hunker down. They do the best they can to protect themselves. It's never enough.
Where did you go Mun?
So, TL;DR I've moved on from the community and am doing stuff in other creative spaces. I'm still around online, I just don't participate in the fantroll community any more.
THE COLLECTION - Various Storms & Saints, part One:
“I am sitting on my bed. A storm is coming, appropriately. A storm is always appropriate.”
— Franz Kafka, from a diary entry written c. December 1919, in: Diaries, 1910-1923.
“Lord, I confess I want the clarity of catastrophe but not the catastrophe. Like everyone else, I want a storm I can dance in. I want an excuse to change my life.”
— Franny Choi, from: Catastrophe is Next to Godliness, published in The Atlantic.
“Sometimes I get lonesome for a storm. A full-blown storm where everything changes. The sky goes through four days in an hour, the trees wail, little animals skitter in the mud and everything gets dark and goes completely wild. But it’s really God - playing music in his favorite cathedral in heaven – shattering stained glass - playing a gigantic organ - thundering on the keys – perfect harmony – perfect joy.”
— Joan Baez.
“He, in his madness, prays for storms, and dreams that storms will give him peace.”
— Leo Tolstoy, from: The Death of Ivan Ilych.
“She’d always adored autumn storms, from the quiet that came before the rain, when the birds and bugs went silent, to the cracks and grumbles that echoed between the clouds, rife with the possibility of goblins and ghosts.”
— Ami McKay, from: The Witches of New York.
“ I am thinking of the storm ahead, / peach bright, so goddamn beautiful I forget / there is a better idea in the future, the future / that promises only that it will never arrive— / It’s what we want, isn’t it, a rupture ahead / that has no name for what it will do —”
— Natalie Eilbert, from: The Lake.
Another wet blanket may douse Michigan’s autumn
Meteorologist say tonight and tomorrow may bring an encore performance of the high winds and driving rain that lashed the Great Lakes last Wednesday.
The trees in northern Michigan held onto most of their color last week, when wind gusts reached 40 mph, but can they withstand another mighty blow ...?
And the gathering storm may shred more than leaves. Another round of 10-foot waves will grind away at Great Lakes beaches and dunes.
It looked to me that the color in northern Michigan was just shy of it’s peak over the weekend.
I JUST REALIZED I NEVER GOT TO POST THIS BECAUSE TUMBLR WAS BEING AWFUL!!!
This is a commission from @ricoririsu oh mine and my platonic partner's FFXIV characters, Autumn (yes that Autumn) and Koharu on the day of their wedding! It turned out to much better than I anticipated, I love how expressive and happy and cute they are and I'm going to cry all over again right here and now!
Hey, hi, hello.
Some of you may know me, some of you may not, and some of you may have seen me around! Some of you might be too shy to talk to me (trust me, I understand way more than you think) so let me introduce myself since there’s a lot of new or returning people showing up lately!
I’m Autumn, genderfluid writer, roleplayer (obviously), artist (sometimes), and several other descriptors that will make this introduction way too long! I’d prefer you refer to me as She/Her or They/Them, but ultimately I’m fine with any pronouns. I unfortunately have some pretty bad social anxiety, so I might seem a little standoffish or just... skittish in general when you’re getting to know me. I just ask that you be patient and bear with me, I’ll warm up sooner or later. If I start talking to you and I’m being super polite and just kinda... asking you about life, it’s because I’m too nervous to go straight into talking about characters and you should definitely tell me when you’re comfortable doing that because I will not know.
Now, why am I worth following you might be asking? There’s a lot of great people in the community, after all, and it can be hard to keep track of everyone. Personally, I like to think its because I write rather well, have a diverse cast of characters (okay so most of them are ladies, but I rest my case), and a story I’m... trying to tell with said characters. I also do some cool worldbuilding. AND! As an added bonus, have a cast of non fantroll characters, including some of an alien race I came up with. Of course this is just my opinion on myself, and I’ll leave it to other people to leave what they think on here if they want to. I’m too nervous to ask people to give their opinions on me, whoops.
This got way longer than I wanted it to, so I’m gonna stop here. Catch you around!
Full Miasme preview lineup! My super deep huge thanks to @apolloablaze for these, you continue to blow me away. She looks so mature and you got all the little details and augh, my heart, my sweet darling baby girl looks so lovely.
