Rules of Magic-world building
Magic in the world of Avaboya and even on Earth. It is Arcanic, but also drawn out from the Aether energies. It can be from within as well.
General, overall term or umbrella term is Spellcaster. I made up this term so it seems like an actual term for anyone with magic, because even humans can be magic capable as well as other types of Mystics; elves, goblins, and vampires. There is even some over lap to certain abilities that are also on their own not magic based or magic needed. Alchemy is a type of science, something to study.
Some types of magic are only for certain mystics such as sirens with the Sing/sound magic. Technically a natural skill.
Stone magic, Medusa or other Gorgons. Others can do a type of stone magic or faux stone magic, but the real deal comes from them.
Shifters, etc
Circles-Groups, social community. Nomadic, but can be stationary. Spellcasters are the only Mystics to have a none structured government. There are rules that are or can be applied overall among them such as the rules of magic, but each circle is its own thing.
Covens are groups that mainly work together for magical use, but a lot acts like found families. Due to their long lifespans they can cross paths and be on their own a lot throughout their lives. Covens are either small like the Five point Coven like Bea’s; it is usually smaller ones that have the broader types of magic. Although theirs do overlap. Some covens can be bigger. Older covens are usually the bigger ones and more sophsicated. Like the Cresent Coven.
Apprentice/Wards. Trainees under experiences witches. Most people train under their eldest family members. Some go off to find different teachers, depending on their magical needs. Many do a bit of both. Family teaching them the familar magic, but advancing upwards, seeking new guidance for the sake of broadening their skill sets, or honing in on a particular skill. There is general magic and specific magic skill sets. Any type of magic user can learn any spell but some whether by happenstance of natural talent or just being drawn to a type of magic tends to specialize in it.
Kanda has a broad range of magical skills, but possess the natural ability of foresight and hindsight. Visions are not entirely magic based, but hers are. In the case of another character, magic can influence visions and be helpful tools, but visions can happen on their own. Seer sight. They are overlapping magic.
Using divination tools like cards are runes do not require magic, but magic users with this skills benefits from their knowledge. Both characters use a type of Rune magic.
A general listing of the types of magic: Elemental magic, empathic magic, divination/seers, and healing. Healing/Herbal magic over laps with potions or alchemy. Alchemy can even be inventing alchemical devices or powders, which can be used for certain magic/spells. Healing magic does not mean only spellcasters can learn how to heal or use medicine. Plenty of non-spell casters in Avaboya can learn medicine, or spellcasters with non healing magic can still be healers, but can also learn to incorporate their magic to help heal in other ways.
