Avani generally did one of two things in her free time: reading and training. Today was a training day.
Trueflame was a familiar whirlwind in her hand as she practiced the motions of fighting. She wished she had someone to spar with, but she still hardly knew anyone in this kalpa. And it felt odd to ask the one person she did know. Avani was quite aware that Voryn didn't actually want anything to do with her, Velyn, and Drarayne. He only tolerated their presence because of Nerevar.
She tried telling herself she was fine with that. She tried telling herself that she didn't care what he thought.
Unfortunately, even Avani did not remain unaffected by Nerevar's clear fondness for Voryn. It hurt that he only cared about Nerevar. That Avani was just an obstacle to him.
Stupid. He didn't know her. He had no reason to care about her. And yet, it still hurt.
Avani's attacks on the air grew more aggressive. She pictured every person she hated being her targets. Avani always managed to get carried away in training sessions.
