12 years from an invention of a drug to market On average only 5 in 5000 drugs that enter preclinical testing progress to human testing only one of these 5 drugs that are tested in people is approved. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it is required this following sequence of events before approving a drug: 1. Preclinical testing 🧬 (laboratory and animal studies, usually takes 3 and 1/2 years) 2. Investigational New Drug Application ⚗️ (evaluating results from the previous testing, chemical structure and toxicity is discussed) 3. Phase I Clinical Trials 🧪 (it's usually the first test of a drug under development in healthy volunteers, takes 1 year) 4. Phase II Clinical Trials 🔬(larger studies that are done in patients with the disease for which the drug is intended, takes 2 years) 5. Phase III Clinical Trial 🥼 (usually involve 1,000 to 3,000 patients in clinics and hospitals, side effects are discussed, usually takes 3 years) 6. New Drug Application 💊 (analyzing the data from Phase III by manufacturer, takes up to 30 months) 7. Phase IV Studies 📝 (commonly called "post-marketing studies") There are also fast-tracking processes that can expedite the drug development process, however, this is the usual journey for a drug from invention to market. Progress on the s14 has been a bit slow due to lots of things going on in my life. Still does not stop me from getting more parts for it though. Just picked up this Apexi AVCR boost controller. Kind of wish it was the black unit, but I could also just spray paint the cover black (which I probably will end up doing).
