I'm thrilled when I find a great Asian model (represent!). Enter Da Chuan, who's walked from the streets of China and onto the runway of Lanvin. He's got that formulaic appeal of every Korean superstar there is: lean abs, tousled hair and that smouldering pout. But hey, I'm just gonna give credit where it's due. Da Chuan looks good, and I sure do hope he delivers in time to come.

Maria is gorgeous with her beautiful facial lines and her great figure. Read: orb-like eyes, a set of lush lips and a near-perfect hourglass measurement. She's a perfect breed of the nonchalant cool that designers so often seek out in their muses. Maria's one to watch.

Face of the Month: Vova A (Ave Management)

It's hard not to liken Vova to another Russian model when you see him: he is reminiscent of Natalia Vodianova. Yes, that Russian model. Like Vodianova, Vova has almond-shaped eyes that are brilliantly blue and a bee-stung pout.

What I find particularly attractive about Vova's look, however, is the emotions in his eyes. It feels like each time you look into the cerulean shade of his eyes, there's a depth of emotions that he is able to push through with each photo. A testament to his appeal? In the short time he's been modeling, he's shot for Miharayasuhiro's campaign, worked with Daria Strokus and Mariano Vivianco.

He sits down for a short chat with me.

Hi Vova, could you start by telling us which country are you from? Hello! I'm from the very cold Russia. I was born in Germany, in Potsdam. At the age of 4, I moved to a quiet town near Moscow, but now I live in Moscow.

How did you get into modeling? I’ve never given any thought about modeling, let alone being involved in it. It all happened by a chance encounter, being at the right place at the right time.

What do you love about being a model? Modeling is a great opportunity to see the world, meet with wholly different cultures, people and to learn English. (laughs) Also, it's great to earn some money, and I enjoy the freedom modeling offers. But we must remember, this is a job which I have to take seriously.

No doubt! What do you think is your best feature? I like my eyes, I think I’m able to convey emotions through them, which is especially important in my job!

What is your proudest achievement in your career as a model? I am proud of every job I’ve done. To me, it’s a kind of victory! But most of all, I am proud of the work with Paolo Roversi for Miharayasuhiro. It is just the beginning. I think at this moment, the best thing for my future is to not think about it too much and enjoy what I'm doing now, otherwise the experiences now will pass me by.

You’ve worked with Paolo Reversi and Mariano Vivianco. How was that experience like for you? Of course at this point, it's two of the shoots I’ve done that I am so proud of! After shooting with Paolo, I became more conscious during the shooting with Mariano. I became more liberated. It is not easy to act in the nude in extreme temperatures! (laughs)

If you were not a model, what would you see yourself working as? I study in the Russian Customs Academy, so I have "insurance" besides modeling! In general, I would like to be an actor. I do not see myself in a ’regular’ job, but understandably my parents have a different opinion on this subject. But I definitely want to make a career in this business as a model, otherwise why would I be one?

What songs are playing on your iPod now? I appreciate vast genres of music, however I have quite a soft spot for techno and as it happens I dabble in a little bit of composition.

Who inspires you? My family, and especially my mother, who is my mentor and teacher all rolled into one.

What is the toughest modeling job you’ve ever done? Probably shooting with Mariano Vivanco and Daria Strokous - who is from Avenue too! - for Vogue Russia. It was freezing weather, I was naked, which was a first for me. I knew that I would be so numb from the cold! The other extreme was for Style: Men in Singapore 2 years ago, which one of my first shoots. It was filmed on the roof of a 35-storey building at 2pm in the heat, dressed in clothes from the winter collection! Plus, I was asked to look at the sun. I wouldn’t say these experiences were tough, but they were definitely ones to remember!

What do you do in your spare time? I go to the gym, read, talk with friends, do yoga or play football. I always have something to do!

Weekly Picking: Olya Remez (Ave Management)

This is Olya, from Avenue Management. Discovered in Kiev not too long ago, she caught my eye immediately with her stunningly icy blue eyes. Despite being relatively new to the industry (the only images of her available were from the same set of test shots), Olya looks promising with her pout and the unmistakeable gap in her teeth. I don't mean to draw comparisons to Lara Stone, but Olya's look feels very fresh, and very 'now'.

Face of the Month: Sasha B (Ave Management)

Face of the Month - June 2012 Sasha B (Ave Management) Height: 1.80m Measurements: 30" - 23" - 33" Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown Origin: Russia

World, meet Sasha B. She is possibly the coolest girl I've met in a long while. A little back story: Sasha was scouted in her hometown by the same guy who scouted Natalia Vodianova. She's gone on to walk from Tsumori Chisato, Zac Posen, Junko Shimada and is the go-to girl when Louis Vuitton needs a showroom model during Paris Fashion Week.

And the 17 year old's next stop? "Haute Couture fashion week in Paris", she tells me.

On the runway, her gaze is razor-sharp, and her presence is incredible. At times, I'm reminded a little of Karlie Kloss when I see Sasha walk - her pout, and the exaggerated swing of her arms create a signature walk that stands out from her modeling peers.

During last month's Audi Fashion Festival, she was one of the few girls who sported shorter hair, which felt refreshing from a sea of long-haired girls. She nails each picture with a nonchalance that makes her all the more cooler.

Sasha comes from the same town that Natalia Vodianova was discovered at too. The scout who brought Vodianova to castings in Moscow met Sasha on the street and convinced her to come up to Moscow to visit a few agencies.
