Who’s Breaking In to the Simmons Residence..

He walked back into the kitchen as Jaymie walked back inside. “You have literally just made his LIFE!” She stated, shaking her head. “I don’t know how we’ll ever top this for his birthday.”

“You’ll think of something. You guys usually do.”

“That is true.”

“Plus, the girls will love her, too.”

“Oh, especially Adelynn. She’s asked for a dog for, well since forever.”

Freeman laughed. “I remember. She asked if I could get a dog and could share it with her. I think she was, what, four at the time?”

Jaymie snorted. “Oh gosh, I totally forgot all about that. I thought she was going to break up with you when you told her no.”

“Well, to be fair I said I would if I could, but I lived in an apartment and could share Tonto with her, but she said it wasn’t the same.”

Jaymie breathed a sigh of relief. “I feel already better having her here, though. Thank you.”

“I thought this might help put your mind at ease.”

She smiled at him as she walked over to the phone and looked at the caller i.d. “Christian called?”

“Yea, he said he’ll be home in a couple of hours.”

“Really?! He’s never home this early. I hope its good news.”

“You know, he sounded pretty elated, I think he might have won the case.”

“But is it the people from the case that have been breaking into my home or is it Aida.”

“I don’t think it’s Aida. She wouldn’t know where you guys moved to. And Faye isn’t coming over so she can’t follow her here and she doesn’t know where I live anymore, either.”

“I suppose that’s true enough.” She sighed. “Ok, so I guess it’s related to Christian’s case he was working on.”

“All the more reason to have Ruby in your home.”

She half smiled at him as she placed the phone in its cradle and pulled what looked like a casserole from the oven. “We’re having a BBQ tonight. Do you want to stay for dinner.”

“I would love to, thanks for inviting us.”

“Are you kidding? You’re family. You’re welcomed here anytime.”

He hugged her and kissed her temple before walking outside and clapping his hands. “Ok, who wants to play catch with the dogs! I got balls, I got frisbee’s, I got squeaky toys!”

“WE DO!” Amora and Noah chimed in at the same time.

Introducing Ruby Simmons..

Traffic was terrible, but the dogs handled it well. Though he expected nothing short of that considering the spent a good majority of the time in the back of K9 Police Vehicles. He turned onto the Simmon’s street and parked in front of their house so Christian could pull into his spot when he got off work. He looked back at the dogs who were panting hard and wagging their tails. “You guys ready to see Ruby’s new house?”

Ruby yipped at him, but Bishop bowed his head. “Aw, it’s ok, buddy. We’ll do play dates.. Or furrdates, okay?” Bishop licked Freeman’s face in response. “Okay, let’s go.” He hooked Ruby’s red leash to her new collar and Bishop’s blue leash with sparkly bones on it to his before opening the car door. They were both well trained, but he knew this was a residential area, and sometimes people were often frightened of unfamiliar pets and especially certain breeds, which Freeman always found ridiculous.

He walked up to the front door of the Simmons residence and could hear Amora and Noah giggling and Jaymie hollering at what sounded like Madlaina’s twin boys. “Full house today, guys. Best behavior.” He knocked on the door.

“I GOT IT, MAMA!” Noah yelled as he came, feet pounding, towards the door and looked on the side where there was glass. He gasped and threw open the door.  “UNCLE FREEMAN!”

“DADDY?!” Amora squealed, running around the corner. She was covered in what looked like flour and there was chocolate on her face. “DADDY!” She screamed as she ran towards him, launching herself into his arms. She hugged him tightly and kisses his cheeks, no doubt leaving chocolate all over his face, but he didn’t care. It’d be too long since he’d gotten a response like this from her. “Aunt JJ is letting me help her bake!”

“I can see that,” he chuckled as he wiped what looked like Flour off of her nose and her cheeks. “Where is Aunt JJ?”

He put Amora down who turned and ran into the kitchen with Noah on her heels. He could hear them talking, but couldn’t make out their words as they shrieked and shouted over the top of one another. Freeman unclasped Bishop’s leash and sent him inside and walked in carrying it in the same hand as Ruby’s leash that was still attached. He wanted to make sure she wouldn’t be overwhelmed by the kids before he let her go.

“Amora, take Bishop outback, please.” Freeman called from the front door as he was closing it behind him. Consciously checking the surroundings before firmly shutting and locking the door behind him.

“OK, DADDY!” She called from the kitchen. “Come, Bishop! Outside!”

He heard her shrieking with Noah as they ran around in the backyard before he even came around the corner. “Hey JJ.”

“He-Oh god! What is this?” She crooned, already on her knees petting the giant German Shepherd next to him. “Oh… oh.. You are so gorgeous! Is it a boy or a girl?”

“Female. Her name is Ruby.” He smiled down at them both. Ruby licked Jaymie’s face and neck and hands. She’d accepted her. “And she is yours.”

“What?!” She looked up at Freeman, eyes wide. “I can’t.. What do you meant?”

“She’s already had the paperwork processed. She’s a K9 Police Force Dog and she was retiring. I went about and filed the necessary papers and she’s officially yours and your family.”

“I..” She sniffed, petting Ruby and hugging her. “I don’t know what to say, Freeman. I mean.. We.. Christian and I, we always talked about getting the kids a puppy, but I never.. We never imagined a full grown dog. Especially right after having Brooklynn.”

“No worries. I already bought everything she’ll need. It’s in my Jeep, including a five month supply of food. I ordered more to be delivered after said five months. She’s well trained and behaved. You won’t have to fuss with her. She’s already accepted you.”

Noah ran into the house and up to the dog. He started petting her and asked what her name was. “Her name is Ruby.”

“Woooow, like a diamond?”

Freeman and Jaymie chuckled, “No, baby. Rubies aren’t diamonds. However they’re both jewels.”

“Oh! Well, I like her anyways!”

“I suppose,” Jaymie said looking up at Freeman who nodded his head. “Since you like her so much, that we can keep her.”

“WHA-UHT!” Noah’s eyes got huge. “WE GET TO KEEP THIS DOG?! THIS DOG, RIGHT HERE?!”

Jaymie nodded her head, laughing while she sniffed through fresh tears as Noah threw his arms around his Mother’s neck and squeezed her tightly. “THANK YOU MAMA!”

“Thank Uncle Freeman.”

“THANK YOU!!” He hugged Freeman’s legs and grabbed her leash taking her outside. “MOMO! WE GOT A DOG LIKE YOURS, BUT OURS IS A JEWEL!”

Freeman and Jaymie started laughing as the house phone started to ring. “I’ll get that. Go watch the kids.” Freeman waved her off grabbing the hand held device on the counter as Jaymie walked out into the backyard.

“Simmon’s residence. Oh hey, Christian. Yea.. I just got here. Wellllll, I might have brought you guys a new dog.” Freeman laughed at whatever Christian was saying to him over the phone and then continued on. “Well, I heard about what happened and so I went about and adopted out one of the retiring K9 dogs from the police force. Yea.. oh, listen. I’m glad you called. I-uh..” Freeman turned to look outside before walking out of the room into the living room. “I’ve heard from Aida. We need to discuss things when you get home. Great. I’ll be here. Yea, all day. Awesome. I’ll let Jaymie know. Thanks for the heads up. See you then.”

Dinner with the Simmons...

“Aunt Jaymie!” Amora whispered loudly, her hands pressed to both her cheeks as she eagerly scanned the living room. She bounded through the front door, not bothering to close it as her Dad was going to be following her inside. She skipped through the house and found her in the kitchen with Noah. She threw her arms around her waist and hugged her tightly. 

“I can wrap my arms around her now!” She giggled.

Jaymie snickered, “That you can! Now that there’s not a baby growing in my belly.”

“Can I see her?!” Amora squeaked.

“As long as you’re quiet, I just got her down for a nap. She’s up in the nursery.” She turned to her only son and smiled, “Do you want to take MoMo up to see your new baby sister, Noah?”

“Yea! Come with me, MoMo!! I’ll show you.” He jumped off the stool and grabbed Amora’s hand, pulling her up the stairs behind him.

“Hey..” Freeman breathed, pulling Jaymie’s attention away from the kids.

“Oh God! Why didn’t you tell me you needed help!?” Jaymie threw the dish towel on the counter and grabbed two of the bags from his arms.

He laughed shaking his head. “Ah, it’s alright. It’s not really the groceries, it’s my side. Some asshole got me good in the ribs, but nothing’s broken.” He flashed her a smile that could melt any girls heart before setting the rest of the groceries on the counter.

“Can I help with anything?” she asked.

“Uh, sure. I need a casserole dish.”

“What size?”

“Probably.. The 4 qt?” Freeman was already pulling groceries out of the reusable canvas bags and placing the items on the counter.

“Here you go.” Jaymie handed him the casserole dish and sat on the stool watching him move around the kitchen. She always enjoyed watching Christian when he cooked, which was more rare these days then they were often as he was always very busy working. Freeman was a good substitute. “I remember sitting with Faye at our parents old house watching you cook.”

He scoffed. “I was, like, 12?”

Jaymie laughed out loud, shrugging. “I honestly don’t remember. I only know that Faye almost burned down the kitchen after she watched you cooking freely, no help from your parents, at your house. My Mom about had a heart attack when she walked into the kitchen to find her fanning the flames.” She sighed.

“I remember that. Your Dad couldn’t stop laughing and it made your Mom even more mad.”

“He was always more easy going than Mom.”

Freeman nodded his head in response as cut up onions on the cutting board. “I’m trying out a new recipe. Do you like Zuchini?”

“I love Zuchini.”

“What about Noah?”

She waved her hand in the air as shooing away a fly, “He’ll eat anything. Avery’s the one you have to worry about not eating something. Child is so picky.”

Freeman smiled. “How are they liking camp?”

“They love it. I predict lots of tears when it’s time for them to finally come home.”

“Where’s the frying pans?” Freeman asked, as he pushed aside the pile of onions with the large kitchen knife before turning to the sink and washing it and shaking off the excess water. He placed it on the counter as Jaymie slid off the stool, walking around the kitchen island to the cupboard by the stove. She stood, holding two frying pans up for Freeman to see. “That one.” He pointed to the larger of the two. Jaymie turned, placed it on the stove, while shoving the other back into the cupboard.

Freeman walked over and poured extra virgin olive oil into the frying pan as and turned the burner on underneath. He put the bottle aside and turned back to one of the canvas bags, pulling out a bunch of spices and two whole chickens. “Why didn’t you just buy the frozen chicken?”

He shrugged his shoulders as she poured the onions into the hot pan and added the seasonings, giving it a stir before turning back around. “This is how mi madre cooks it.” He began cutting the chicken with such precision and expertise that could wound a seasoned chef’s ego. Jaymie couldn’t help but be awed at his skills with a butcher knife.

“You chose to become a FBI Agent instead of a Chef?”

Freeman laughed in response as he placed the two carcesses in a pot on the stove. “Might as well make you some homemade chicken stock with these beauts.”

“You don’t have to do that.”

“But I will.”

She shook her head as she heard the tell tale signs of Brooklyn waking up from her nap on the baby monitor. “Better go grab her before Noah tries to pick her up out of her bassinet.”

“Does he do that?”

“No, but there is a first for everything, right?”

“Truer words.”

While Jaymie was upstairs, Freeman continued to work on cutting up the chicken and adding it to the caramelized onions. He threw in some more seasoning, and salt before he started cutting the zucchini lengthwise in thin strips. By the time Jaymie returned carrying Brooklyn, with Amora and Noah following closely behind her, he’d already cooked the chicken and was rolling it up in the zucchini that took place of the tortillas, placing them in the sprayed casserole dish. After it was all laid out he let Noah and Amora help him pour the green enchilada sauce and spread cheese over the top. Noah begged for olives, which thankfully Jayme had, and then they placed it in the oven. Once that was going and he set a timer, Freeman began working on some spanish rice and refried beans.

“That smells amazing.” Jaymie noted, returning from setting Amora up with Brooklynn on the floor. She sat at the opposite end of the island so that she had a clear line of sight to the kids.

“Should be ready in about 10 minutes.”

Jaymie looked at the clock, pouting. “Christian is probably going to be late for dinner.”

“That’s alright. There’s plenty for him when he does get home.” Freeman turned, smiling at her.

“You want to tell me what’s going on between you and my husband?”

“What do you mean?”

“You guys stay locked up in that office of his for hours at a time.”

“Ok.. you caught us. We’re in love.”

Jaymie mockingly gasped, grabbing the dishtowel and throwing it at Freeman, laughing. “Don’t be an ass.”

Freeman chuckled. “Ok, that was a lie, but I’m still not going to tell you. At least not right now.”

“But you will eventually?”

“Of course. Eventually.” He looked up and winked at her.

Before she could push him for any more details, which he could sense she was gearing up to do, the timer for the enchiladas went off. He turned it off and the oven before grabbing the oven mitts, opening the oven door and pull out the casserole dish, placing it on a mat on the counter. He turned the burners off that were keeping the rice and beans warm and reached for a spatula to scoop out the enchiladas on a plate.

“Add a touch of cheese over the beans and dinner is served.” Freeman noted out loud as he handed Jaymie two plates for Amora and Noah. He dished out his and Jaymie’s plates while she helped the kids into their seats and checked on Brooklynn before walking back into the kitchen only to find that Freeman was mixing drinks for the kids and herself. Their plates already on the dining room table.

“What kind of drinks are those?”

“Don’t worry, they’re non-alcoholic. I am driving and you’re still breastfeeding.”

She smirked, shaking her head as she grabbed the kids drinks, taking a sip. “Hawaiian punch and 7UP?”

“Yea, it’s Amora’s new favorite drink.”

She placed the kids’ cups by their places, bending down to kiss them both on top of their heads before she sat down at her place next to Amora. Freeman joined them seconds later, handing Jaymie her glass and walking around the table to sit next to Noah. “How’s it taste, little man?”

“DEEEEEE-EEE-EEE-EEEEEE-LISH-USH!” He gave Freeman a wide, toothy grin before taking a huge bite.

“Mo?”

“It’s yummy, Daddy. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” He smiled at her, watching her take a bite before he looked at Jaymie who was leaning back with her eyes closed, chewing slowly.

“Oh my god, Freeman. This is amazing!”

He laughed out loud, taking a large bite himself. “Mm..Mmm..Damn, I’m good.”

They all started laughing in unison.

But I will share concepts I’ve been playing around with!!

Charlie Moore! She’s a Nutritional Specialist who prepares food for anomalies, and often closely works with SCP-5031 (Just another murder monster) to gain ideas for dishes! She also helps out with humanoid’s when there’s a shortage of staff. Sometimes gets in a wee bit of trouble for sneaking snacks to anomalies who definitely aren’t supposed to have said snacks (ahem, TJ because he deserves it and fuck his article he needs a new one)

Agent Rosary! She was part of a foundation experiment to raise children in a secluded town, where they were trained to be staff starting at childhood. Her parents were always distant, extremely loyal to their jobs and she grew up the same. Cold, calculating and struggles processing and showing her emotions due to being raised as a hardened tool for the foundation. Her specialization is one I haven’t picked quite yet.

Avery Simmons. A young, 13 year old girl who is technically an E-Class but has free roam of the facility. (For those who don’t know. E-Class personnel are people who were exposed to anomalies! Usually they’re..pretty dead, at least most of the time). Her parents brought her in during an event that is now banned. It was bring your child into work day. Of course, this was only available for kids whose parents were both personnel. But through an incident that I haven’t worked out yet, she was significantly injured. Damaged several organs and lost some flesh to her bones, but was repaired by SCP-2295, and is now affectionately nicknamed ‘The Patchwork child’ by personnel.

Okay you said anyone so I yeeted the kids in the wheel picker again! :D I picked one per dorm tho and apologies some of them dont have public refs just yet! (WE WILL GET THERE I SWEAR-)

•I guess the only thing to really envy about Faust is that he never really takes things to heart

•Clover has a very passionate spirit! Despite being an ass to some characters, she would never pick fights with people she knows are sensitive/weaker than herself

•Marinus is very hard working despite the flaw of being hungry a good chunk of the time (but this man is OVER working tho so-)

•Momo's a real sweetheart and rarely ever gets mad

•... Listen if you envy anything from Avery, I dont know what to tell you-

•Dell's also a sweetheart, they're honestly like a happy little ball of joy (mostly)!

•Kamïk may have their teasing moments, but they're very calm, collective and wise

•Roan has some pretty good leadership skills

•Lorien is very polite and patient, also rarely ever getting mad at things (although more easier to annoy than Dell)

P: 5. Do they hate anything about their own/others personalities?

•Faust hates people that are bratty/snotty or think they know better than everyone, he doesnt really hate much about himself

•When Clover's all alone, in her dorm room, she wishes she wasnt so self conscious about her braces :( she also hates people who bully/start fights with people they know are weaker than them

•Marinus also hates snotty/bratty/nosey people >:( but when it comes to himself, he sometimes feels like he comes across as very needy when he drags off friends to show them something he likes :(

•Momo hates how sometimes he's a bit quick to jump to conclusions

•Avery just kinda hates everyone tbh, but especially people who mess with her besties Clover and Jolie

•Dell doesnt really hate any part of their own personality, but they dislike people who see them as a tool or "not a real student"

•Kamïk hates people who cheat (in terms of relationships and games lol go cheat on that test /LH /HJ) and people who take everything too seriously (they want people to live a little!)

•Roan honestly hates everything about himself 💀

•Lorien just hates annoying or really angry/vengeful people
