in the early stages of their friendship, clancy put avery through a series of tests. he asked avery to stand guard for him and his (already tried and tested) pals for 6 hours once -- they had sneaked off to play in some river or something and forgotten about him. another time, he planted one of his friends’ belongings in avery’s things and even though it was pretty obvious that clancy had stolen it, to prove his loyalty, avery had to claim it as his own. clancy is proud to say that avery passed these and others with flying colors.
