VHS Christmas Carols in a nutshell:
Us when we don’t care what you say anyway or something
MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYSS here’s a rushed marley
"now youre just trying to scare me/cause youve led me to a cemetery" my brother in christ YOU wanted to know who was the dead man from before. what the fuck else is it to do, show you his corpse??? youd like that more??? get real.
Marley's body language and expression changed between avhscc and vhsccs and i find it so fuckin interesting because in avhscc his expressions and movements are softer and they don't change a lot constantly, as if you could expect what's next. Marley mostly talks to Scrooge by being close to him, he makes physical contact and all, as if he was still alive, just talking about what's for life. in avhscc brings the vibes of someone who has been separated from his body after death, someone whose life and death are two different things, and the alive part of Marley needs to tell Scrooge about what's next for him to wait.
But for vhsccs, the movements are sharper, more things happen in less time, unexpected. Marley is away from Scrooge big part of the time, unable to reach for him, and barely holds any close contact with Scrooge. It's a feeling of a man whose life was continuous even after death, Marley's life and dead were not separated, it's still just one concept in one body. He uses his own experience in death to not only talk about what could happen to scrooge, he's not there to just mention the possibility, unlike avhscc, he's there to warn him, he's warning about what WILL happen. It's the death part of Marley the one who is warning him, he doesn't only wants to tell him to be careful, but he also needs to help him by letting him know that the person in front of him is an actual ghost, one that he knew and wants Scrooge to not live like him, or he'll end up just like the dead man in front of him.
