National Naval Aviation Museum - Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida

The National Naval Aviation Museum is the world’s largest Naval Aviation museum and one of the most-visited museums in the state of Florida. It features more than 150 beautifully restored aircraft representing Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Aviation. These historic and one-of-a-kind aircraft are displayed both inside the Museum’s over 350,000 square feet of exhibit space and outside on its 37-acre grounds.

Splitting between WWI and the Interwar section for a moment, the museum also houses some pieces of Zeppelins! And I mean that in the literal 'made by the Zeppelin company' sense, not just as a generic term for a rigid airship. There are a few other fragments here and there, but these are the most prominent: a gondola of LZ 113 (it had four), and the nose-cone of LZ 121. It's an impressive sight hanging on the wall like that, but only represents a tiny piece of how big the whole ship would have been.

Today was very full!! We will likely be stuck here until Sunday because the weather is really super weird right now, but it's not as though there is nothing to do!

Oh, and... by the way, this is what I mean when I say the weather is being weird:

...We cannot fly in this. It's misty and raining, and the air is probably very bumpy and we won't be able to see anything.

That's okay, though; J made a great oatmeal out of some water, some oats, some powdered milk, some dried fruit, and some peanut butter! I made a tea to share! And we had the last of the carbonara leftovers, too!

J did some of his remote job after that, but then we went to a nearby aviation museum, and that was pretty cool, I guess! Admittedly, I'm not personally all that into vehicles, but I can respect the dedication, creativity, and cleverness that goes into building them!

It started raining in earnest on the way back. All the little worms want, for some reason, to be on the pavement when it rains.

...I picked up as many as I could and put them back in the grass.

J wanted to go to a place called Prince Gallitzin State Park. In order to do that, we had to talk to the nice airport people so they could give us a ride to a place where J could rent a car! There was a cute little set of plants in there that I thought maybe you'd like, so I snapped a picture!

We got the car, but then we were hungry, so on the way to the park, we stopped at a place to get snacks! Here's what we got!

After a bit of a drive, we arrived at the park. Specifically, we arrived at the section of the park with the best access to the lake:

The hour was pretty late, and it was cold and rainy, so as you might expect, nobody was here. But that's all right; I had a waterproof poncho on, and my winter coat on underneath, and the lack of people meant that it was very quiet! I got a video of the rain on the lake for you; here!

So, J and I wandered around taking pictures!

I thought the rocks on this shore looked a lot like those chocolate-covered strawberries I made at work that one time, actually...

J got some pretty great pictures, too! Here, let me show them to you!!

...He didn't like some of these, actually. I restored a couple from his Trash folder in his phone so I could include them here, though, because I thought they were pretty rad!! I hope you enjoy them!

...I wish you were here. I think you would have liked getting pictures with us. I think you would have liked helping me rescue the silly worms from the pavement and putting them back into the grass where they'll be safe.

We are back at the airport safe and sound. I want to keep writing to you, but I should probably get some sleep; I imagine tomorrow is gonna be another early day, and last night's sleep was broken and weird.

I love you so much. So I'm gonna keep asking you to stay safe out there, wherever you are. I'll do my best to keep staying safe, too.

...But... ya know. Just in case something weird happens and I don't... then, maybe if I get really lucky (after having presumably gotten unlucky in the first place), you can expect a visitor! I'll have so many stories and memories to share with you! It'll be good!

...We'll still hope it doesn't come down to that, though; I'd like to gather up a lot more stories and memories, first! Then we'll both have endless things to talk about! And that doesn't sound like a bad time to me! Maybe it doesn't sound like a bad time to you, either!

I also went to the aviation museum on Tuesday when I visited the model train museum! I apologize for taking so long with the pictures, I wanted to draw over a couple of them, and apparently, I decided to put a lot of detail into them. Enjoy! Pictures are under the cut!
