when qifrey saw his daughter was acting weird with a boy, he had a bit of an exaggerated reaction and immediately assumed they were being threatened by a gang (in the style of the stereotypical, overprotecting mother that thinks her kid's partner is actually a drug dealer). olruggio is more sensible and tells him they're probably just dating

Akesumi friendship is really special just because it's kind of hilarious. Like I can't explain it. It's really funny to imagine Akechi just having a soft spot for Sumi, and so he's like weird. Ok. I'll be more evil and surely she'll take the hint. And Sumi conversely is like I'm pretty sure hes a murderer based on everything I've learned but he's nice(ish) to me so!!! Um!!! Yeah!! And they both have cluster b personality disorders.
REALLY funny that when i checked up on a lot of beloved cancelled podcasts about some guy (voiced by the creator) just absolutely going through the horrors- the creator is a woman now. Damn can't make the miserable guy podcast anymore I'm on estrogen.
I love characters who become just like their mother (horror)
I actually think sanitizing older stories with dated elements- such as sexism, racism, homophobia- removes it from the fascinating cultural context and deprives the reader of a better understanding of the past. But sure lets create a new feminist retelling of Le Morte D'Adthur where Guinevere has 3 weed smoking boyfriends.
imagine if kid olruggio had started to doubt the pointed cap ideology after noz, because so many people could've been saved if only he'd been allowed to heal them, and was slowly loosening up to the idea that maybe the brimhats have a point... and then he met qifrey, a boy that hates the brimhats so much, a boy that has been hurt irreparably by them and is the clearest example of their cruelty, and oru immediately went, "...maybe not"
