Once Upon a Childhood (A Voice From the Desert Excerpt)
The dead come just after sunset.
Ganondorf is only a boy, seated beside Auntie Sera, weaving a tapestry as she speaks of the Eldin Mountains. She calls them extraordinary, painting vivid images of molten pools of lava, trees the color of ash, and a skyline that seems to defy the very heavens.
When the screaming starts, he rushes outside, expecting to find someone injured, some terrible accident that needs tending.
He is unprepared for the carnage that awaits him, the violence that tears his people apart. Every able-bodied warrior tries to fend off the attack with spears or scimitars, but the dead do not yield to mortal weapons.
Though he has only begun his warrior training, Ganondorf conjures a blade and enters the fray, his thoughts circulating on his mother and sister. Where were they?
That they could be one of the many mutilated corpses he is forced to step over as he fights is a notion he cannot entertain. They must survive. They must.
But even he can only do so much. His magic is strong, but the hoard is neverending. The darkness cannot keep them at bay, and his blade is growing heavy in his hands. Someone is wailing – someone he knows, though in his panic he cannot place her voice. It could be Yaru, the sealwarden’s daughter who’d smiled at him after spear practice only hours before.
Whoever it is, she is young, and then she is gone.
His mother’s general – no, his general – screams orders, and he realizes that it should be him. He is their leader, their king, the one they are all counting on. The one who is failing them as more and more voices are cut short.
The dead are vulnerable once his magic has ravaged their defenses, and he tries with all that he has to be everywhere at once.
He is not enough.
He needs to be more.
So Ganondorf does the only thing he can think to do – he calls upon the power he had inside and lets it consume him.
Now it is his wails that join the fray, but they are not pained. No, this is joy – the pure exhilaration of becoming the beast he was born to be. As he triples in size, he does not notice his own people flee from him. He only smells the blood, and tastes the thrill of adrenaline and blood writhing in the air.
His beastial form is a freedom he has never known. It is a struggle to keep it focused, to only tear apart the limbs from those who are already dead. Yet he is a king, and beast or not he will not bring his own people to harm.
So he gorges himself on the dead instead, hacking and slashing and unleashing magic that he’s never even dreamed of, in ways that leave devastating silence in his wake.
It is pure joy – and then it is over.
When he comes back to himself, there is no one there to catch him as he falls in the sand.
There is only blood. There is only violence.
And there is only a child king, too steeped in both to ever be seen again.
[A Voice From the Desert Summary (Updated)]
To bridge the divide between Hyrule and the Gerudo, Zelda launches the Letters of Unity Initiative – a correspondence program meant to foster understanding. She never expects to become captivated by an anonymous and infuriatingly clever "voice from the desert" who challenges her in ways no one else dares.
Ganondorf joins the initiative to spite Hyrule and mock the fool who dares write to him. But instead of a dull-witted scribe, his mysterious correspondent is sharp-tongued and insightful, drawing him into an irresistible battle of wits.
While Zelda and Ganondorf become bitter rivals, clashing in an escalating war of aggravation, neither suspects that the adversary they cannot stand is the same person whose letters they secretly cherish. But as their words draw them closer, hiding the truth becomes harder, especially when Ganondorf realizes he’s falling for two women at once: the fiery princess who refuses to yield and the stranger who knows his heart better than anyone.
When an ancient enemy stirs in the shadows, threatening the fragile peace they’ve fought to protect, the bond they’ve forged in secret may be the only thing strong enough to save their world – if they don’t tear each other apart, first.

Chapter 54 🧚♀️, We are who we choose to be.
[The Great Fairy of the Gerudo Desert floats before you. She is humanoid, reflecting features and attire of the people of the land she governs. Her fiery hair, sheer skirt, and golden jewelry billow and float around her, unaffected by gravity. The lighting is unnatural, provided solely by her magics. Beware the Glamour.

Chapter 49 ✨ The Princess of Light…
[Princess Zelda raising her rapier as she summons a brilliant shield of rainbow hued light to ward off the encroaching shadows. Though she is in full color in the story, here she is depicted black and white, and gold because my kiddo said the color scheme should be Black and Rainbow, naturally they are brilliant and right 😌✨ She wears an armored dress, elegant and battle ready, with a slit up one side that is flared open with the surge of magic and movement around her.]

Behold, Chapter 32‼️ Ganondorf gets to have some fun~
[A battle for the ages! King Ganondorf, clad in his imposing armor, stands ready, sword drawn, eyes locked on his fearsome opponent. Before him, Snowflake the Goat, unyielding, spear gripped firmly in his teeth, meets his challenge without fear. The tension crackles in the air. Will sheer strength and steel prevail, or will stubborn determination and raw tenacity claim victory? The fate of this showdown hangs in the balance! I took a whole lot of liberties with todays art 🤭]
[The ultimate showdown, Voe vs. Goat! Ganondorf and Snowflake stand poised for battle, sand swirling around them in the desert air. ‘3… 2… 1… FIGHT‼️’ A flurry of unseen attacks erupts, the screen flashing red with jagged streaks of red and orange, the sheer intensity shaking the battlefield. And then… silence. The dust settles. Ganondorf lies defeated. Snowflake stands atop him, VICTORIOUS, spear still clenched in his teeth. The legend is born: SNOWFLAKE WINS!]

Chapter 63 😈, fantasy.
[Ganondorf above Zelda, her petit body gently crushed beneath him. His hand is intertwined with hers while the other cradles her head, silken hair between his fingers. With his teeth he pulls to rip a button off her lavender pajamas as they both clearly enjoy this moment.]

Chapter 59 💃, Mothers help him.
[A little comic strip of Chibi Ganondorf faces through the events of todays chapter. Starting from the top down: “Thinking of Zelda ♥️”, “Dinner~”, “Dancing.”, “Still… Dancing… “, and finally “Learning the Truth.”]
