the smile that turned the corners of hera's mouth was genuine. it brought light to her face, making her seem happier somehow than she normally did when she smiled. there was power and joy in the love of a child, and even more so in the appreciation. hera did not expect her children to shower her with gratitude - but a small moment like this, on a day meant to celebrate all the wonderful mothers in the world - that was enough.

"thank you, sweetheart!" hera accepted the flowers, inhaling their scent before setting them aside to tug eileithyia into a gentle hug. "i love you as well. thank you for remembering me today."

"How you wound me!" Calling him a weirdo was of no consequence, for he enjoyed her little quips and name calling from the first moment they met. Devlin caught onto the nuances of Piper's speech patterns and figured this was her way of showing endearment. It was her way of flirting, which he was enjoying as the days progressed.

"Oh no, but if we close the blinds, what will people say?" Devlin teased, "closing the blinds and being alone with a weirdo? Heavens forbid we start playing Monopoly or whatever board games you have stashed somewhere. That particular real estate game, I heard in ancient legends, could destroy bonds and relationships. The ultimate test..."

"You are so far from wounded." She laughed, shaking her head in amusement. She had always thought that her way of 'flirting' would scare nice men off....that was rather the point. But Devlin seemed fine with it. Even seemed to like the joking from time to time. And truthfully, she found herself slipping with him- not pushing him away, not being too harsh.

"Oh, they will know if we start playing Monopoly from you crying." She snorted. "I'm more of a Game of Life girl myself. See if I can out kids you with multiple cars." She told him with a playful wink. "Besides...." Her voice softened more then intended....again. God what was this influence he had- making her nice. "Maybe I dont want to ruin that bond just yet."
