In other exciting news, I bought a little hand axe from an antique mall for $10 and we're gonna see how shiny and sharp I can make her again : )

Official project post. So after the eye cracked I had to pull the handle and in the process of pulling it, sheared off a sliver from the shoulder - more unsavory language followed. With a damaged head and damaged handle, morale was beginning to tank. Sometimes to get the thing you want, you simply have to work harder than usual. So, I put a flat spot on the rear side of the shoulder/tongue of the handle and glued on a new chunk of wood (you can see the seam in one of the shots). I had someone with welding knowledge fix the crack, then I got to grinding. It came out pretty good and this is the first axe I have cold blued. What we have here, after much tribulation, a specific combination of features I have been wanting for awhile, a Plumb Jersey with bevels. It is marked 3/2, and weighs 3lbs, 8.9oz - couldn’t ask for better. A 30″ stick of course, because that’s how I like em.
