So a while back, I had a weird dream about D&D or something, and one of the characters had a bow that could turn into an axe, or an axe that could turn into a bow. It’s hard to remember now. But I decided to design it. The result is a pair of blades that can be attached to either a pole (axe) or a grip and strung (bow). They could also be used as some weird sort of hand axe or dagger.
So queermadbaggins wanted Legolas/Gimli for the meme:
who holds the umbrella when it rains?
Legolas. Gimli is too proud to admit he needs an umbrella. He has a hood. He’s fine. So Legolas just happens to have a big enough umbrella to shelter them both.
who is the grumpiest in the morning?
Gimli. Legolas got started in the guard awhile ago, and early mornings are nothing to him. Gimli thinks Legolas needs to either be quiet or wake him up in a more fun way.
who worries more when the other is sick/hurt?
Legolas, because Elves don’t really ever get ill, unless it’s serious. So though he logically knows that Gimli just has a cold, and it’s fine, he still hovers. Gimli thinks it’s odd, but lets him because it seems to make Legolas feel better to fuss.
who plays pranks on the other?
They’re an equal opportunity couple.
who is always the first to suggest cuddling on the sofa?
Gimli. He thinks at first that Legolas isn’t very physically affectionate, until he works out that Legolas doesn’t know how to ask for that sort of thing. So he’s the one who initiates for a long time, until Legolas gets comfortable with it.
who insists on creating nicknames for the other?
Again, Gimli. Legolas didn’t grow up in a very openly affectionate environment, and he just isn’t as comfortable calling Gimli by nicknames. Gimli, OTOH, revels in calling Legolas any manner of petnames, and Legolas loves it.
who drools on the other when they’re asleep?
Dwarves sleep more than Elves, so probably Gimli, for the most part.
who says ‘I love you’ first?
Oddly enough, I think Legolas would be the one to say it. Elves don’t know much about Dwarves, so Legolas would probably say it just because he knew it would be his only chance, not knowing Dwarves only love the one time. He would say it just so Gimli would know, and probably not tell him what it meant at all.
So, the-realm-of-inconsistency asked for this, and I ended up using Legolas and Gimli from my AU Until You See the Light, from Legolas’ point of view.
32.) “I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified.”
“What's that song your friend is always singing at you, then?” Gimli asks, throwing another stick into the fire. “Caught the word purple, I think. I can never tell with your language.”
Legolas stares into the fire. “'Oh How the Violets Grow',” he answers. “The word purple is in there a few times, you're right. And she's teasing me. Tauriel finds herself very funny. I'm not sure who convinced her of such a fancy.”
“And why is it so funny?”
“It isn't very funny at all,” Legolas replies, not in the mood. Gimli still has bandages wrapped around his bared chest, and another around the palm of his right hand. There are still bruises on his face, on all of him, and Legolas does not wish to think of what could have been, had his horse been another moment slower, had Gimli not turned and seen his outstretched hand, had Legolas not managed the strength to pull his heavy Dwarf body, weighed down with armour, on to the back of the animal. “She is trying to lighten me.”
“She is close to you,” Gimli says, a question.
“We grew up together. Tauriel was brought to my home when she and I were both very young.” It was so long ago, but he still remembers the first time he saw Tauriel. She was only as big as him, her face dirty, and her hair roughly braided. “There are never many children amongst my people, and none in my home were considered suitable companions. My brothers and sister were all too much older than me to take an interest. But Tauriel had no one. So she was raised with me, as my companion.”
Gimli tilts his head. “Why was she alone? Who brought her to you?”
“That's not a story I might share, my friend. It's only hers.”
“I see.” There's no ill will in it. Gimli never seems to have any ill will, a trait Legolas sorely envies. He wishes he could be the same, that he could so easily hear Gimli call someone a friend and let the matter go, but he cannot. “So what does the song mean? Why is it a joke?”
Legolas looks at him instead of the fire, this mortal Dwarf, bruised and broken and still so good-natured, and Legolas has no idea if Gimli could ever look at Legolas and see anything other than a cold and unchanging Elf. “It's a song for new lovers. She sings because I believe I am in love with you.” Gimli's dark eyes seem even darker in this light, as he stares at Legolas. “And that terrifies me.”
Sometimes I like to search through the Gimli tag and reblog stuff I reblogged like ten times already just to give people feel-good LegoGim feels (that have no official ship name so fudgenutters on a stick)
